What is the Nicest, Safest Part of New York City?

I'm looking for an apartment there, but I want one contained by a really nice and safe nouns. If anyone has any apartment buildings or websites to suggest... that would be great.

I don't want to spend more than $2,500 a month for rent.

Harlem
We're still looking
For that price nearby are plenty of safe neighborhoods you can choose from. $2500 a month will go and get you a real nice studio or 1BR, and within some cases, even a decent 2BR contained by Murray Hill, Upper East Side, Upper West Side and Chelsea for example.

If you want to venture out of Manhattan, that money will go and get you a nice pad contained by Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Carroll Gardens and Boerum Hill, all within Brooklyn.

Astoria and Long Island City in Queens would treatment you with that money to spend.

You should also look into Riverdale, surrounded by The Bronx, where you'll enjoy to remind yourself that you are still within the confines of the five boroughs.
right subsequent to the local police station.
If you dont mind leaving manhattan, try Astoria or Long Island City contained by Queens. Its a 10 min or less subway ride from midtown east, and you could grasp a lot of thump for your buck for $2,500.
Washington Square
Tribeca
asker requests nice and safe.

living anywhere in the neighbourhood a police station might be a little sheltered, but certainly NOT the nicest place to live.

cops are not really friendly those. and if there is an emergency. count your block as individual the first to be cordoned off as the police try to protect themselves first by blockading the police station and the entire block surrounding it. nobody get in or out, if you live here, count yourself as a prisoner.

living next to a fire station is a much nicer and safer bet, but the solely problem is the noise of fire engines adjectives hours of the day.
$2500 a month? Wow...
Here on the reservation you can buy like 6 houses for that price.
I option I could help you. And I will you good luck.
Haha. I have to agree beside the first answer. New York...I know it sounds stereotypical, but I don't think it really is past the worst. I don't think there's a safe and sound place in the universe. *except contained by his arms* :]
Actually, subsequent to the local police station tends to be one of the worst places.
I agree beside mbaamwenzi, she recommended the Astoria and Long Island City section of the Queens. You can obtain a good apartment of $2500 or smaller quantity and you you'll have a 10 to 15 minutes subway ride to Midtown and 30 minutes to Lower Manhattan. May, suggest looking for an apartment on craigslist.

Good luck
