Should we live surrounded by Manhattan or Brooklyn?
My boyfriend and I are moving to NY in July. He is going to CUNY Brooklyn and I am hoping to work surrounded by the financial district (which is where I own worked since I graduated from college 3 yrs ago). We are contained by our early 20s. We visit last yr and singular went around Manhattan, but hear Brooklyn (Park Slope or Williamsburg) was a risk-free, nice place to live. We do not want to pay over $1600 for rent. Any suggestions on where on earth to look or if we need a broker? Where is the best place to live? We are looking to be in motion with around $5-6K...does that seem to be like adequate to get started contained by case I cannot find a opportunity for the first 2 months or so? Any help would be greattttlyy appreciated!

2 great neighborhoods worth checking out are Astoria and Sunnyside, both within 15 minutes of Midtown and 30 of Wall Street. a moment or two long to Brooklyn, but might be a good transfer of pace not to live so close to college...

Brooklyn. Cheaper, a less hectic scene, and more convenient for him while still convenient for you.
For $1600 you are predictable to end up a touch bit north of Williamsburg (Greenpoint) or a little bit south of Park Slope (Windsor Terrace, Greenwood Heights, Lefferts Gardens). After you move, you can do some exploring around the nouns and decide if Manhattan or Queens or someplace else is a better fit for you...and afterwards at the end of a year's lease you'll be contained by a better financial position to make that move. Everybody's expenses are different...$5000 could work or you could extension up spending that much just on apt. deposit, first month's rent, and broker excise...
Brooklyn is not as expensive as Manhattan. I prefer Manhattan myself, it's livelier, more exciting where on earth all the best restaurants, clubs, shops, department stores, museums, hotels, etc are. In Brooklyn you will return with more for your money. Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights can be very expensive approaching Manhattan; but there are other great neighborhoods similar to Williamsburg, Bay Ridge, Greenpoint, Bushwick, etc.
Try to find a place near subway and bus connections. If you are even a few blocks away from one of these deem of trudging through the snow and ice of winter everyday on your agency to work or school.
Have you considered Queens? It's also close by and in attendance are some great neighborhoods! I used to live in Flushing Hillcrest.
