Day Trip Help?
I don't know which method is better. A few friends and I are taking a day trip from Sacramento to Fisherman's Wharf. We're debating whether driving straight within would be better than taking BART and the Muni.
The closest BART station is in Pittsburg, CA give or take a few an hour and half from Sacramento. Then we'd hold the BART to the Embarcadero BART station, then hop onto the Muni to gain to Fisherman's Wharf. Then take the Muni to Palace of Fine Arts and China Town.
I'm purely wondering if anyone out there know which way is better. I've just been on BART once and never on Muni since, so I don't know if it's worth is. Any suggestions? Thanks

I did a similar trip about a year a run, also from Sacramento. We drove, and it worked out really nicely. If you own good directions, driving is much smaller amount stressful that worrying about public transportation schedule. There is ample parking at the Palace of Fine Arts - maybe you could drive near and then clutch public transportation to other spots.
ok...closest station is certainly not Pittsburg. What path are you coming from Sac to the bay nouns? If you are on highway 80, you are better off taking the Pleasant Hill Station. I don't instinctively recommend Richmond or El Cerrito either due to illustrious theft/break in rates on cars according to the Bart cops.
When I travel to a's games I go to pleasant hillock or walnut creek instead. then taking bart from in attendance. But you can also take amtrak wealth corridor train from sacramento to emeryville then taking bart from nearby. There are three stations in berkeley, and not totally sure which one is closest to the train station. But you can also use bus service from Amtrak and walk over into SF from the train station.
OR you could drive to Vallejo and then run ferry directly over to Pier 39. that will capture you closer to fisherman's wharf.
