I live surrounded by NYC and am wondering the amount it would cost to live surrounded by hawaii?
I live in NYC and hold been here for 5 years, how does the cost of living compare to NYC? I am within a 1 room apt paying $1200 a month, $130 elec&gas, 30 on DSL, and for a bag of food its around $30, and thats the no given name brand names. How does it compare to Hawaii, exact I need to escape and HI sounds approaching where I want to be in motion.
Answers:
I heard they don't meet outsiders (long term tourists)
a short time more because youll be living in a house, i guess,
but, they dont use alot of gas here soooo... i guess a little smaller amount,
then again, your gonna own to pay for the plane ticket and stuff approaching that... its in between
GOOD CHOICE, THOUGH =) ( the moving to hawaii thing)
In Hawaii everything is imported onto the islands (e.g. groceries, gas, etc) so cost of living will be justly expensive, but rent is a little lower than NYC.
One of the commonly noted problems relocating from the mainland is several people suffer from rock disorientation. Rock Fever is what malahini (newcomers) experience after being stuck on an island for some time minus being competent to leave. It can be cause by various things, homesickness, inability to assimilate into local culture/lifestyle, boredom next to same scenery/weather every day, not mortal able to readily travel to another city or state. It is one of the principal reasons malahinis hand over up and leave Hawaii, usually within less than a year.
Hawaii is expensive, but its less than NYC.
You wont call for a parka and boots, or a heater.
