New York a cesspool for belligerence?

I just finished watching the movie "The Brave One." Jodie Foster's behaviour kept happening upon hit and miss acts of brutality in New York city. Now, I know that movies aren't other a reflection of tangible life, but the movie's get me paranoid. I'm going to New York next month... is the crime rate truly so discouraging?

Answers:
The crime in PHX is merely bad if you live surrounded by gang infested South Phoenix, and around South Mountain. Otherwise not much goes on contained by Phoenix.
the brave one?

i have to rent/torrent that one. gratefulness.

i like nyc crime flicks.
Are you truly ruled by what you see contained by the movies and on t.v.? NYC is the safest big city inthe country. I am a native New Yorker. I own never been mugged or hold ever felt contained by any major difficulty all my years here. Its a great city and embrace adjectives that it has to offfer. Don't be afraid of the boogeyman, he probably moved to your neighborhood.
Yes, and Jodie Foster be supposed to fall for someone because he tried to shoot the President. If movies be realistic, Harry Potter would ensorcel adjectives of Al Qaeda for us.
NYC is not even in the top ten document of cities with crime (Phoenix is number 1)
No. Not at all.

New York is consistently rate as the safest big city in the U.S.; after traveling around this country and seeing most of our big cities, I agree, minus hesitation.

Crime rates enjoy dropped dramatically, and we're down to our lowest murder level since the 1960s.

Many put our crime height as roughly the equal of Boise, Idaho.

Not so intimidating now, huh?

Most first-time company to New York return home completely shocked at what they had only just seen. They expected crime, rudeness, and adjectives of that bad stuff. They get safety and open-handedness.

That said, there are some pockets that I'd stay away from, but really, those aren't places that company go to anyway. They're commonly parts that are tucked away from everything, not on the way to anywhere that company visit. Unless you're going to places that people almost never go to, I'd influence it's really not worth worrying about at adjectives.

You'll see when you get here. I contemplate you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Enjoy!
In decree for film maker to maintain sincerity, they will have to start finding a unknown setting for crime movies.

The days of rampant crime in NYC are long gone. According to the National statistics collected by the FBI, New York City is the safest huge city in America. Not purely the safest by a little bit, but it is not even close - beside a few exceptions, like Boston.

Yes the crime rate here is unanimously half that of adjectives other large cities. It is at 40-50 year lows. Are here areas in the city where on earth crime is high? Are here still incidents here of a mugging in a angelic area? Yes, within are, but put over 8 million people anywhere together surrounded by one place and...

Not to long ago on this Board a man from Southern California questioned this claim and checked it out for himself (the stats are available online beside research), and was amazed to find that NYC be safer than San Diego. He also noted that remove some of the "pockets of crime" in impossible neighborhoods and NYC is by far safer.
Over the recent past 13 years or so, crime in New York City have dramatically DROPPED. If anything, New York City is the safest BIG city in the United States! :)

Murder is at the lowest height since they've been keeping collection of it! Not to say that in attendance isn't crime anymore...they're still in the doomed to failure areas. But unlike the early 90's where on earth there be PLENTY of random brutality going around, crime now is pretty much isolated to empire you know or if you were committing something unjust (drugs, gun purchase).

Still...keep alert anyway. It's only good practice.
Can you choose entertainment that is a touch more high class?
Forget the movies, come to New York and
travel somewhere which will be nice for you like
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, or walk somewhere nice for dinner ... just forget adjectives that stuff.. Weeeeeuuuu !!
