I live in a small town surrounded by sonoma county, I plan on driving for the move but im sure i will spend a full week there doing preparations but should i explore the first two days consequently go apartment hunting or what?

You should manifestly come here for a few days and explore the city. If you have any picky neighborhoods in mind, check them out surrounded by person, during the hours of daylight AND night.
