What is a must see/do surrounded by San Francisco?
I'm going to San Francisco in June of 08-never been-I'm contained by my mid 20s-going with inherited (Mom, Dad, little sis (18)). What is a must see/do?

wine country.
the museum of modern art surrounded by SF.
haight street and golden gate park.
pace over the golden gate bridge to sausalito and next take a transport back to the city.
if at adjectives possible, avoid fisherman's wharf and especially alcatraz. they are tourist traps.

Skip Haight st but otherwise I agree with Mr X. Then skip cliff house but fairly go to the Palace of Legion of Honor within Lincoln Park for views. Skip Pier 39 and Fishermans wharf. Go to see Beach Blanket Babylon on Sunday since after your sister who is a minor can go ( contained by evening she cant) You can drive by ocean shoreline but do not ever go surrounded by the water since folks die there every year. Do look out which neighborhood you are in ( parts of the Mission District, the Bayview, Western Addition and Tenderloin are not good) It could be cool foggy and stormy in June OR thaw out.
Head to Golden Gate Park and the beach implicit the Cliff House. The view is preposterous in that nouns. Also few tourists know about the Mission district. Check out the street murals and try one of the bigger Mexican restaurants within. Your little sis will love the funky vibe and the fresh fruit popsicles.
If you go to Fisherman's Wharf, do taster one of the restaurants around the area of piers 1 and 2. Avoid the greater piers like 39. That's where on earth the tourists are and it's not worth the crowds (unless the sea lions come out).
If you carry to travel north, check out the coast (i.e. Pt. Reyes) and sample the oysters. If you progress east, head to Telegraph Ave. contained by Berkeley (but stay out of People's Park). If you go south, lead to (1 1/2 drive from SF) Monterrey, Pismo Beach or the Hearst Castle at San Simeon. For nightlife with your sis, try San Jose (about 30 min. drive from SF). Get your parents tickets at Davies Symphony Hall.
Ditto on the ballpark hypothesis. The Giants stadium is actually charming!
Since its your first time, take a ride on the cable cars, call round Alcatraz, have a saunter through the Castro, watch the society drive down Lombard Street, take a boat trip around the cove for a good outlook of the city and the Bridge.
Just take it undemanding and wander around and see what you discover. Its a great city.
Fishermans Wharf yes its a tourist trap, but nice to tool around in it . Haight/Ashbury is another cultural experience, and definately be in motion to Sausalito. Cute place... and also make your means of access up to Twin Peaks for a view of the together city! Beautiful, but don't go up on a foggy hours of darkness, you won't be able to see your foot in front of your frontage!! =)

Fisherman's Wharf is the tourist trap contained by San Francisco but it still is fun. Pier 39 on Fisherman's Wharf has your Hard Rock Cafes, Bubba Gump Shrimps, etc. etc. Plus you enjoy to watch the deep-sea lions wrestle each other and look out at Alcatraz (you should look in Alcatraz; but you have to book since your trip otherwise it WILL sell out; do not bear the risk of walking up the day of.)
You really should amble the beach from Fisherman's Wharf and next up over the Golden Gate Bridge and over to Sausalito. This may be too long of a walk for you so I would particularly say you stipulation to bike it. You can do some wine tasting within, too.
Because your are going in June you should consider going to see the San Francisco Giants baseball activity. It is on the otherside of the city from Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman's Wharf however it is a phenomenal stadium (even for non-baseball fans). It is about a 2 mile meander from Union Square, which is where adjectives the fancy shopping in San Francisco is.
You can other take a drive up the Pacific Coastline and maybe even stop at Golden Gate Bridge park.the beaches on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge (away from Fisherman's Wharf) own beautiful sightlines.

Golden Gate Park (lots to see, lovely view... close to Palace of Fine Arts)
Quoit Tower (awesome! you can see all of San Francisco from at hand... close to Chinatown)
Palace of Fine Arts(one of the most beautiful place you will ever see... guarantee it!)
Chinatown(very exotic and asian... you can see what the chinese life span is like contained by San Francisco)
City Hall (beautiful building)
Lombard Street (the most crooked street in the world)
Fisherman's Wharf (seafood...seal... sea animals... succulent food... and much more!)
Alcatraz Island (used to be a jail... in a minute you can get tours of the inside of it... must move about to Fisherman's Wharf in directive to get to the islad)
Westfield Shopping Center (absolutly huge!! shopping precinct, just open last November)
Union Square (out door shopping, lots of locals too!)
