usually fireworks for any holiday within SF are held along the embarcadero facing alcatraz by Pier 39. check out http://www.sfgate.com for all the info for NYE 2008.

Though I did find something that say there will be some fundamental the Giants stadium south of market.They start at midnight and ultimate 20 minutes.
