Depend on what day and time u will be within Houston. How old are the kids?
Downtown is almost 30m away. JP MorganChase building is the tallest building outside of NY and Detroit. If you're not from those cites then shift there so you can viewpoint Houston from above then hold lunch at one of many close restaurants.
The Aquarium restaurant, also downtown, is a nice place to have lunch (a little overprice but it's ok) and for the kids to stretch out. Nothing really spectacular, lately a giant 3 story aquarium with brackish water fishes but it would tempo sitting in the airport for 11 hrs.
If me a send for and maybe we can work something out, if I don't work that time then I don't mind showing your family connections around 281-748-3696.
It isn't worth the hassle of going away the secure nouns and having to be in motion back through it. Stay at the airport. Buy a book or two (better even so, bring a few with you), own a meal or two at the restaurants/food courts. If there's an eleven hour layover, they'll probably present you your luggage instead of checking it through (if we're talking overnight). Too abundant chances for gate to change.
What's the point of renting a sports car (a waste of time and money) solitary to turn it in like day? Besides, renting a sports car at the airport isn't cheap. You'd spend over a hundred bucks after all the fees and taxes are added on. For what?
I know it will be boring, but "man up" and suck it up. I know it sounds a tad stern, but you're putting yourself in a complicated mess of problems if you head off and come back. For example, probability are high that you and your own flesh and blood would be selected for secondary TSA screening (body searches are not fun) for departure the secure zone. For what?
I've spent time waiting at airports formerly, and it is not fun. But, you have to do what you hold to do. So, get comfy. If any one of your clan is a member of one of the airline's premium services, spend the time within their club area. Far more comfy than sitting contained by the terminal.
only stay around that area. it's not worth travelling downtown or to the Galleria. if you took a hackney carriage, do you know how much the fare would be? like the first poster said, you can step to the mall, and own plenty of eating option...
I would no suggest leaving the airport, but if you do settle on to leave you should budge to the galleria and maybe specifically about it. because the time that you would own would mainly be spent waiting contained by traffic and walking throught the mall.
you could move about to Deerbrook Mall in Humble - the city where on earth the airport is. There is really nothing to tour contained by a structured way within Houston. You could go down to the Galleria(mall)- but form sure you do not try to travel to and from that area during morning or evening drive time. You could progress to a museum. That is really about it.
Galleria and the theater district downtown..oh and you can visit this aquarium they enjoy right by the freeway
You could go to some nice places if you own a rental car. Downtown is in the region of a half hour drive from the airport. You should check out the Galleria shopping arcade, then you can stir to Westheimer area...in that are some good restaurents in attendance...good exotic cuisines...If this is a weekday you could move about tour the NASA facility, which is about an hour from the airport...further south from the Galleria.
You could accomplish adjectives this withing 11 hours.
