If your masculine and can fit in and not look similar to a foreigner. Have you looked around, it always looks resembling garbage daytime. After a while it would get depressing. Yucky
You can and will be stuck for many hours at the border. Go east (El Cajon, La Mesa, Santee) north (Oceanside) or south (Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach) for smaller amount expensive housing where you could still use mass transit.
...$250 - $300 sounds pretty cheap for SD. At the complex contained by North Park I lived in the rents be like $800 and up. I guess if you have roommates you could get that like mad cheaper...
I know you want to save money, but you would retribution otherwise in the long run. All the answers here are terribly true and honest.
Have you ever tried to cross the border on a monday morning? I bet not. It takes HOURS. Driving or walking. Plus it isnt protected to live there. They dont hold laws similar to us. I would suggest, unless you are from mexico and understand their ways, Dont do it.
Dont do it. Its not worth it. I honestly appropriate HOURS to cross EVERYDAY and 6-8 hours on holidays. I know people who live down at hand and cross to go to work and they shift home everyday from work, eat dinner next to their family, shower and later leave again to drive wager on to the boarder at 1am to sleep in their motor in a closed lane ( most of the lane close at night) so that they can be one if the first few to cross in the morning.
So why live in that if you dont even get to sleep surrounded by your bed! your better off living within your car contained by the US at least you will enjoy more time. Otherwise if you have an 8am you will be to be up at 3:30 in the morning at the boarder at 4am and after crossing your fingers you get to work on the dot. Then you wont be gettign home untill 8 so if your down for a 17 hour work day step for it. Plus you have to hold to keep track of your passport everyday... no forgetting it at work because you wont be rejoining us within the US of A anytime after that.
It takes a while to cross the border. I've hear up to 3 hours when it is really bad. It is unsafe too. There is a drug period of war going on in Tiajuana right immediately. I'd stay away!
You aren't going to find your own apartment for $250-300 dollars. You will need to get hold of some room mates.
"Do not do it". Explore other options, be through Tiajuana many times(as vigorous as possible). With gas the price it is, you could use a whole reservoir full just getting across the border. It would lift hours to walk across and find a transit bus to San Diego or same from San Diego to Tiajuana.
If you're prepared to take on a 2 to 3 hour 'commute' to recover money, you might as well look east. Any place from Alpine to El Centro will collect you money.
i think its resembling 3-4 hours and thats if you get in that a 4 am.
If you cant afford SD then walk east.
SCARY!! DONT DO IT..
Its really unsafe.
What will you do if your place get robbed? What if somebody crashes into your car and merely drives off? First, you don't know anybody in attendance. Second, language banister. Third, the police won't always be on the "right" side.
Money is power over within.
