Expect to take-home pay about $1,000 to $1,200 for one and the same thing. That is why so lots people enjoy room-mates. Check with student housing.
California is method different than Ohio cost-wise. You pay for the great weather and proximity to the seaside. You are not going to find ANYTHING for $450, let alone a 3.5 bedroom place.

There aren't any valid ghettos areas around Moorpark. Try looking in Northridge. Its something like 20 miles away but will be cheaper, more available housing, and the commute wouldn't be too bad.
California does not enjoy the same rental costs as Ohio. An apartment runs no smaller number than $700 for a one bedroom in that nouns that I have found. The farther away you progress, the more expense it tends to find too.
Sorry to be the one to break that news to you.
Like we told the previous poster, check out craigslist for roommates.

Everything around LA is VERY expensive. A fully clad, non-ghetto 1BR apartment around LA costs $1200 per month or more.
