2 days surrounded by San Francisco, where on earth to stay, what to see?

My parents -ages sixtysomething- are going to San Francisco for the first time.
- Where do you recommend for them to stay so that they can walk to places, or steal public transportation?
- Also, any 'must see' apart from golden gate bridge, fisherman's wharf and alcatraz?

These two sites enjoy many hotels to choose from http://sanfranciscohotels.itravel.bz/hot... and http://www.san-francisco.cc/san-francisc... Have Fun!!
china town and japan town. if they want to see some shipshape things, japan town is really really neat, but small, we have fun for the day here. the kabokio hotel is right on top of japan town center, and the dot lounge inside it have wonderful food.
i reccomend the club floor, you get a free breakfast.

I recommend someplace in the neighbourhood Chinatown. Keep away from the Tenderloin.

You don't have Chinatown on your enumerate, but it is a must see. The Asian Art Museum is awesome! The Ferry Building is a popular place to go. Some of the antediluvian Beatniks like to dance to the City Lights bookstore. The zoo isn't far away and easy to procure to--if they dare!

If they have a saloon, it is a short (20 minutes?) drive to Muir Woods where they can see huge redwoods.

They can whip BART across the bay and see Jack London Square contained by Oakland or go to Berkeley.
bayview, lakeview, east oakland, tendorlin, hunters point.
For guided walking tours. Be sure to dress surrounded by layers to stay heat up. It's been cold - sometimes drizzly lately.

In the Union Square area, stay surrounded by the Handlery on Geary St. (was remodelled a few years back) or Villa Florence (I'm not sure if they have remodelled yet), or St. Francis Hotel (if they want to splurge). . Suggest they first run to the Visitor's Center at Powell & Market St., lower level. They would step down the sidewalk escalator past the Cable Car coffee and sandwich truck to accomplish the Visitor's Center office.

Union Square is where on earth Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, the Gap, Macy's California etc. are located. There are eating areas inside Macy's and Westfield precinct.

Plan to see sights around the city and ride the vintage street cars on Market St.,, the trolley, and buses or underground MUNI metro line. Should plainly consider buying a Muni Pass for unlimited rides. It's a good wrangle.

What do they like to see and do?

If included contained by Visitor's MUNI pass, ride cable saloon from Powell St. to Fisherman's Wharf. Walk to Pier 39.

Walk from Union Square via Grant Ave or Kearny St. to Chinatown.

Visit the Ferry Building and east end of Market Street

Take the #38 Geary to 6th Ave. and afterwards get rotten and transfer to the #44 Muni bus. It will pinch you into Golden Gate park where the DeYoung museum, arboretum, etc. are.

For adventuresome - if they are interested. Take the *38 Geary bus out to 33rd Ave. and carry off to verbs to #18 Sloat to go to the SF Zoo for a day's drop by. Tell driver you want to visit SF Zoo. Walk to entrance which is within the parking lot which faces the Great Highway. ONLY IF THEY REALLY LIKE TO VISIT ZOOS.

Take the #38 Geary MUNI bus to Park Presidio and from in attendance, transfer to the #28 Bus to the Golden Gate bridge supervision area. Tell bus driver you want to step to the Golden Gate Bridge. . Driver will advise. Or send for #311 on your cell phone for advice.
Check this website ...you can find profusely of options of point to do in the city.
Take safekeeping and have a nice trip!!
