Yes it's expensive and yes it's worth it. I've lived here most of my time and I've never been anywhere that I thought be better.

Beautiful, a great place to live. Very expensive as I found out in my 2 years within La Jolla. I miss it though.
Obviously, it depends on what area of San Diego you live contained by.
It is incredibly expensive and the cost of living versus salary/wage often don't work together. The weather tend to be good year round and nearby are plenty of things to do here.
I am a native of San Diego, and yes it is expensive..in that are lots of towns outside "San Diego" that are a little cheaper to live..i.e. Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, El Cajon. Lakeside, Escondido, etc...you will really approaching the area, beach, mountains, great year round weather, lots to do...and yet can be exceedingly kick backbone and relaxing..go for it, you will not regret moving near...born and raised surrounded by the area...60 yrs...
It's a great place to live. Unfortunately it is expensive. But when you figure contained by how much you can save by not have high nouns conditioning and heating bills it's not as bleak as other places
