No one know anything just about Holy Name Cathedral?
I have posted a couple question about if holy identify is liberal or conservative. No one answered.
Isnt there ANYONE from Chicago who goe sthere??
Answers:
Everything that Stella explained is correct. You enjoy to fit in beside the people. No business where you budge or who you are! Go to the churches. See if you feel comfortable. I am alike as Stella. I was raise catholic and stopped going when i wanted my own spiritual beliefs. Good Luck!
Holy Name Cathedral is conservative.
I don't know. I wouldn't kick to the conclusion that the overwhelming majority is conservative. Yes, it's a Catholic church. I grew up in a Chicago Catholic church but consider the those fairly liberal (which is not to right to be heard you won't find conservatives in the bunch). There is a difference between the ideals of an institution and popular practice. There are myriad reason why different people attend Mass. Keep surrounded by mind, too, that Chicago is, overall, a liberal town.
Do you plan to live downtown? Chicago is full of so many Catholic churches. You're not restricted to St. Pat's and Holy Name by a long shot.
Late add: I suppose I used "liberal" interchangeably beside "progressive." I wonder what issues you are concerned about, to which you hope the congregation is "liberal" or "conservative." If you convey us, we might be able to provide better answers.
It's a Catholic Church... Of course it's Conservative. They follow what the Pope says. Anti-homosexual (but surrounded by a nice way now), anti-abortion, anti-divorce, etc. It's be that way within the Catholic Church for centuries. Everyone should know this.

To clarify: just because individual member of the church support gay rights and think that abortions should be legalized, etc., does NOT mean that the entire church society is liberal. The follow the leadership of the Vatican which is NOT liberal. In a original, general sense, the Catholic church, any of them, are NOT liberal. Individual churches that own tried to break away acknowledge things like gay sex and wedding, premarital sex, etc. have be sanctioned by the Catholic Church organization and within some cases, "banished" (for lack of a better word) from the Catholic church
Holy Name Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. I am not exactly sure how to answer your interrogate. The Roman Catholic church is more conservative than some, less than others.
Holy Name is approaching Chicago's Old St Pat's. It's the big church in the city where on earth we have the big midnight mass on Christmas. It's no more or smaller amount conservative than any other church in the city. If you want more, shift to Moody Bible - they love putting down homosexuals.
Siri, Holy Name is the intermediate church in the Chicago bishopric, which vehicle Cardinal George is most likely to opt the attitudes of that church more than any other. You don't get to be a cardinal unless you toe the church procession, and neither of the things you ask about is reasonable to the current Catholic hierarchy contained by Rome for sincerely held theological reasons. So there's no means of access that church could be liberal on the two issues you cite.
Keep in mind Siri, that this week of the year is break time for a huge number of people (and their kids), and citizens on vacation aren't on their ordinary routine, and so are likely looking here smaller amount often. Asking your query in an exasperated tone isn't going to backing. People either see it or not. If you have waited a week or so, you'd enjoy found better responses.
Why not merely type it into search and read adjectives about it--lots of info. Then you can consider for yourself.
Edit: I just looked at their officer web site. They own a very widespread range of accomplishments and programs geared to all sorts of citizens with diverse circumstances. Seems they are conservative BUT progressive. Visit or attend a mass and see what you deem. See if you feel comfortable and response.
I know I'm not answering your question specifically. I newly think you should form your own judgment and not go by what other folks think or base on a label.
I know Holy Name Cathedral remarkably well, I be a member, my son attended university there. Liberal or conservative. I don't make out that question. Certainly not liberal. Why does that issue? It's a beautiful church, the cardinal's church. albeit, the location does draw some homeless folks who sneak in during the morning. If you make yourself a short time clearer, I will try to answer your question.
