Mainland Kids Entering Hawaiian Schools...?

Is this a shallow question coming from a parent? Our familial will be moving to Hawaii this year,we have adjectives been in attendance many times as company and are in LOVE near the Islands,as well as the population! My kids(I have 3, 2 girls, ages 17 & 12 &1 boy,age 13) surrounded by the beginning stages of our planned move WERE fundamentally excited, but now they own been audible range "Horror" stories, about how Mainland kids are not acccepted by the Local kids. All 3 of my children own been trendy and popular all their lives, growing up within California, both girls do well academically, are good-looking,sweet and kind, they are also both cheerleaders. My 13 year older son is the only one who doesn't come across to be bothered by these stories, since we were within Maui this last Summer and a group of 6 local boys took him into their circle as tho they have been friends adjectives their lives, taking him spear-fishing and cliff-jumping with them! He is Bright,Athletic(2xMVP contained by Football&a State placer n Wrestling)GREAT KIDS&THEY'RE NICE 2!WILL THEY BE OKAY?

Oh, this really is such a hard sound out to answer well. I estimate it depends on so many things. Probably the most big things are your kids' attitudes and where surrounded by Hawaii you live. It would be naive and untrue to read out that there are not ANY local vs mainland issues surrounded by Hawaii schools. But have said that, I believe that if your kids go into it near the right attitude they should be fine. By the right attitude, I mean not acting similar to Hawaii is some kind of backwater & everything be so much better on the mainland. Local people are really reasonably sensitive to malihinis (newcomers) saying things approaching "What Hawaii really needs is_____." You will hear rumors around "Kill Haole Day" at the public schools. My kids never experienced anything of that humour. But I also am aware that there be times that there be minor tensions that my kids attributed (rightly or wrongly) to ethnicity. So I guess my bottom chain assessment is yes, to some extent it does exist, but it is usually totally blown our of proportion. I would recommend trying to live in a community i.e. not disproportionately any one ethnicity. Your kids will have a harder time adjust if they are the only haole surrounded by the class. And, as the first responder pointed out, your girls are at a rough age for relocation, even if it is just a cople of hundered miles away.
They will be fine. A lot of folks move from the mainland to Hawaii and they blend surrounded by and get along.
The girls are in a tough age no issue what school or state. The boy will be fine.

Not every kid is Hawaiian so I wouldn't verbs about it. The private adjectives Hawaiian schools seem to be like they are OK.
ah, relate them don't worry nearly it. it's gonna be like starting a foreign school anywhere else within the world. the first couple of days there are gonna be shy and stillness...next piece you know they'll be asking if so and so can come over. i had lots of friends that be from the mainland and your children will find lots of other children in university that are originally from the mainland. your children are gonna be okay! the only article they might find out is that they aren't gonna be on the same horizontal academically with the kids surrounded by hawaii. but in no time they will capture with it!!

oh, and may i sugest that you put your kids contained by public schools? for some function the public and private school kids don't really attain a long...except for kamehameha schools which is private to hawaiians one and only...they get along next to everyone!
Naah!! As long as they don't live in Waianae they will be ok!! Joking. I enjoy plenty of friends there!! The kids will be fine!! Same probs here as anywhere else contained by the world. Hawaii is the melting pot of the U.S. Here surrounded by Maui, there are so abundant Haoles, its basically similar to CA. Especially in Kihei Area. No worries!! Most us Hawaiians own much Aloha for any and all individuals. The locals who don't are just oblivious, like the ones on the mainland.. Just revise to do the head tilt, speak Howzit, mahalo, Aloha braddah/sistah, and teach your kids to achievement Akamai(smart) Everything will be great. Bombai (Soon)you guys gon be locals! Good Luck
Yes, the horror stories are true! Haoles from the Mainland are at the bottom. I am Hawaiian and White. Yet, I still frontage discrimination for person half white.

Locals surface that haoles took over Hawaii illegally ( which is true) , but they haven't gotten over this. Also, mainland ancestors buy up all our houses so we can't afford a house.

HI school have profoundly more fights than CA school. Locals are agressive and deal beside their problems through fighting.

Also, school don't teach kids to not be racist contained by HI, like they do within CA. Its really sad. Kids swot racism from their parents.

Also, your daughters may get within fights near the Tongan girls. Seriously, some Tongan girls don't like pretty haole girls b/c they acquire the guys. Tongan girls are big and their family disciplines them by hitting them. So specifically where they cram it.

There are some good things almost the culture though. Locals can be nice when they want to be. People here can be courteous and friendly. They are also fun-loving.
First past its sell-by date, you need to know that school in Hawaii are not run by a ranking like mainland school. That means, them self cheerleaders means zilch, basically, kids contained by schools here hold their own groups of friends, but pretty much get along next to everyone, instead of being separated into 'cliques'. So long as your kids are respectful to the kids and acknowledge that they are strange and have no claim, they'll be fine.

Sure nearby are horror stories o kids not being permitted just close to anywhere else, but schools surrounded by Hawaii are waaaaaay better for kids, there aren't any bullies and they're more culturally aware.

Oh, and looking population in the eye may be 'right' surrounded by the mainland, but here it's dangerous. Just remember that.
