Thinking more or less moving to Carbondale--bad opinion?
I'm thinking about going to SIU for a graduate point in Public Administration (they are offering me a podginess chunk of change), instead of trying to apply to a more prestigious university. I am from Eugene, Oregon, and am your stereotyped West Coaster--I love kayaking, hiking, and being outdoors within general. I am a lacto-vegetarian who love Asian food, philosophy, art and traveling. I have a fear that SIU, being contained by Illinois and the Midwest in standard, would be a BAD choice for me. Anyone in Carbondale to disagree next to me?
Answers:
Carbondale is a bit of a stretch for hiking and kayaking. It is more cosmopolitan than a neighboring town due to its unuversity, but still reflects the Illinois thought stencil. If you want to continue kayaking and really want to focus on human being outside...I woudl steer away from SIU.
For me it woudl be fine, but I would guess not for you.
It is hilly nearby. There are several state forests in southern Illinois. You could particularly hike near, but kayaking, not so much. They say the SIUC campus is pretty. Carbondale is a small Midwestern, college town. The closest city of any size is St. Louis.
