Disney dining plan? If fancy dinners not impressive to you is it worth it?
Two adults going to WDW in December. We don't really concern about sit down fancy dinners and we are finding some of the restaurants that nouns nice are ALL READY booked NOW!
I don't want to have to settle on now what I want to devour in 6 months!
I realize the financial value of the plan, but it you are just going to end up drinking food court burgers or resort buffets is it worth it?
I want the focus of my vacation to be on fun, rides, shops and souveniers. Can I forgo the dining plan and not starve while near?
Isn't there a McDonald's?

My sister & I were in attendance last spring. We stayed at one of the cheap disney hotels (Pop Century Resort I regard, it was close to $99 a night) & didn't get the dining plan. We be fine, we did book 1 nice restaurant and then the rest we did at our hotel, which is much similar to a food court, they had places you could establish food, or a cooler that had sandwich, salads, etc. It was lawfully reasonable, we brought our own bagels so surrounded by the mornings all we have to do was buy cream cheese from the little food court. We remunerated the $12 for the disney cup but it was free refill on soda for the rest of the visit from our dining passageway, so I think it be worth the $12, because we were nearby for a few days. Our Disney hotel room also had a small fridge, so I'm sure you can bring some of your own food. While we be in the parks at lunch we only stopped off and get a burger or sandwich, most of those restaurants don't require reservations, if you don't mind sitting outside at the picnic tables. Also near is a McDonald's at downtown Disney, I think here is also some other restaurants there, which is not inside a park and it is more similar to an outdoor mall.
I will be at WDW alike time you are! I am staying with friends contained by Saratoga Springs (I can't wait!). I instinctively have never done the dinning plan but I am going to do it for my subsequent trip. Honestly I think fragment of the charm of Disney World is the great food. One of my favorite places to eat is 50's Prime Time at MGM. The food is outstanding and the atomaphere is a blast. My warning is skip the dining plan and book a couple of sit down places during your stay (keep trying people commonly cancel advanced dining reservations [ADR] ). Do one regular sit down and one individuality meal (even for adults these are ALOT of fun).

Deb has some great tips on dining and making the most out of your trip!!
Its not worth it, but depend on what you would like. McDonald?? Its adjectives over the world, but isn't it a kids snack? There are TONS of ADULT restaurant in Orlando especially along International Drive. You would hold TOO MANY choices.
If the focus is fun - don't spend the money for dining plan. We a moment ago returned and would not do the dining plan again. i hope you are not going the week after Christmas as this is the busiest week of the year and crowds are terrible! After Jan. 2 - the park is relatively bare, weather is good and no lines!
Snack, bring a backpack and savour the rides, shopping and more without tying yourselves down near reservations!
ENJOY!!
If you don't want to guzzle at the nicer restaurants there really is no idea to get the dining plan, since partly of your meals would be for sit down meal. For example, if you go 5 night, you would get 5 counter service, 5 table service and 5 snacks.
It is a great plan and powerfully worth the money, but only lower than a few circumstances.
1). If you plan to eat at the sit-down restaurants, you won't be capable of get them for smaller amount than you can on the plan.
2). You want to have everything remunerated for ahead of time so you don't have to verbs about it when you are here.
3). You can get reservations for the places you want to be in motion.
If you only want counter service and possibly a few sit-downs you will probably be better going with out. Counter service meal usually average around $10 per person, bestow or take a moment or two depending on what you will be eating. Some counter service places are a moment or two nicer than others, so doing a little research can really minister to.
If you can't get reservations i.e. another reason not to carry it. There is nothing worse than already have meals salaried for and then not anyone able to return with into anything nice. If there is any place you really want to move about, you should try to get a reservation or you may not be capable of get within. Since the dining plan is so popular the Disney restaurants can sell out hurriedly.
If you don't want to be tied down to reservations than you may want to consider staying away from sit-down meals within general. When you do sit-down meal you really should reserve them so you know you have some place to stir. It can take a moment or two enjoyment out of the hours of daylight when you have to scrutinize the time to make sure you don't miss dinner, but I ruminate you kind of revise to get used to it. If you want to delight in the parks more and have a moral time and don't care just about where you chomp through, then going beside counterservice is the way to budge. You may have a vein when you get nearby, but usually it isn't too long. And, in most cases it is the solitary way you can newly walk surrounded by to eat. Since counter service meal don't take reservations you don't hold to worry something like not getting in.
Normally I do recommend the dining plan, it is a great plan, save money and you get nice meal. But, for your situation I think you would be better stale without.
Not sure if you will own a car or not. If so you can turn all over Orlando for meal. There are several McDonalds outside of Disney and one right in Downtown Disney as in good health.
Hope this helps
Have a great time
well, i budge to disney every year with my husband, and i get the dining plan only once , and surrounded by the end it is really a scam. you primarily pay for the food ahead of time, plus some other fees...because you retribution more for the plan, than just buying the food. This is how it works though:
you recive a book of coupons for the food when you gain to disney, or in the correspondence before you set out home. You can use these for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and snacks, but there is just about anything to choose from when using these. You actually conclusion up spending money from your own pocket, because most of the time the coupons don't apply to much. i would never do this for me and my husband again-- we hated it, but if you don't what the food is similar to, then walk ahead. Some people might resembling it!! hope this helps you a bit!! you can also appointment disney to get the inside measure on this. you can find contact information if you go to www.google.com, and surrounded by the search engine box type: walt disney world phone book, click on the 1st answer, and phone call the dinig number. This helped me when i be looking for places to eat, and it will comfort you too!!
We are going to Disney World subsequent month and I posted a similar question. We contracted not to get the Dining Plan. I'm sure its a really right deal if you want to munch through at the nicer sit down restaurants and if you can get reservations for them. Unfortunately, it sounds similar to the Dining Plan has pretty much taken the spontaneity out of intake at Disney World as you need to hold everything booked months in mortgage. I think you'll be fine basically eating counter service. I don't close to my vacations centered around consumption either. If you do desire to go near the Dining Plan, call as soon as possible. Have a great time!
There are plenty of counter-service restaurants you can chomp through at. So if you don't want to eat at sit-down, you don't involve the dining plan. It does stink how you can't get surrounded by anymore except months in finance!
We did the dining plan but would not do it again. You feel tied to consumption a certain restaurants (fast food and sit down) and we gone with points remaining. I be especially disappointed with the dinners. First, we couldn't attain into anywhere we wanted to move about, they were full. The ones we could return with into were not on the index of excepted restaurants. We made reservations early for the Luau and our spaces were extremely bad. The last darkness we were in attendance we made reservations for the Wolfgang Puck restaurants and nearly killing ourselves getting across Disney World surrounded by time for our reservations we told that our dining plan was for the cafe (downstairs) and not the nice portion of the restaurant upstairs. The staff was VERY mean and we we seated downstairs where we didn't entail reservations at all. It be a very disappointing evening.
