NYC locals: 70K plenty to live surrounded by the UES? studio specifically..?
I am relocating to NYC with my current employer. I will making 70k. I found some nice studios between $1400.00 & $1500.00 dollars contained by the UES. I plan on selling my car and relying on the subway for most transportation and on hackney cab when out late at darkness. I am a single 29 year old guy beside no dependents. Is this enough or do you deduce I will go broke?
Answers:
My friend, you're renting a studio for $1400 to $1500 a month, you're selling your saloon and relying public transit to get around the city, which is cheap, and you're making $70k a year, yeah its doable.
Good luck
more than enough, imo.
and unless you are basically someplace really inconvenient out at night, gather your money and stick it out with the subways and busses. you'd be surprised how much and how briskly a regular dose of cab fare will devour away at your "profit margin"...
(funny that i got a "thumbs down"... i trademark less and income more rent on the UWS, and i'm doing just fine, thank you...)
I give attention to you should be ok. Studios for 1500?! That's a steal. Wow, they must be in the E 90s and close to the east river, right?
You're not going to preserve up with the Joneses surrounded by that neighborhood with that pay but 70k will at least procure you in the door, so to speak.
Why are you intent on the UES? It's a nice nouns but in my evaluation there are abundantly of better places in the city to live. If you do opt to live there, stay close to the 4/5/6 train--if you're over on 1st you'll dread the long walk to the train in the winter.
you should do aiight.
For the price surrounded by rent, not having a saloon, mass transit costs, food, etc.you should be okay.
