Anyone Ever Riden their Motorcycle from LA to Vegas?

Is it a fun ride? My friend and I were thinking nearly driving out to Vegas next weekend to run into up with some friends. Thought it might be fun to cart the bikes and have our other friends follow within a car. Is it a nice drive? or alot of freeway? Is sand blowing over onto the road a big concern?
