I reflect on every town for the most part have a ghetto side of town.
It really depends what cut of Akron you're in. 90% of it is surely great. It's a beautiful city near tons to do and Cleveland isn't far. I recommend it. I lived there for a year and adored it.
There are some bad areas, but here are so many nice spots that it would be worth the move. You would not hold the major traffic problems that Columbus or Cleveland own. Akron has a great AAA baseball squad, a small but really nice zoo, The Inventor's Hall of Fame, some really fine restaurants, and lots of malls. Fairlawn is a nice area which is presently part of Akron.
It's got its ghetto, yeah, but it's get its nice parts too, and more affordable housing than a lot of places. Generally, it's nicer than Cleveland, Canton, Youngstown or Warren (the other big cities nearby), and I hold observed far fewer cast off lots there than articulate, in Cleveland or Columbus. By Ohio standards, it's a nice place.
If you are working contained by Akron its fine. Now living there I would suggest living contained by the Summit county area outside of Akron. Depending on your income you own different choices. If you are making a lot and can afford a nice home I would suggest Bath, Hudson and Richfield. They are north of Akron and hold very nice neighborhoods but expensive. Next choice would be the fairlawn nouns lots of shopping with I-77 right in that and you can take Rt 18 right downtown to Akron.
Some parts are ghetto, but there are nice areas too. Probably the suburbs similar to Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, or Green would be your best bet.
There are some nicer areas that are greatly very close to Akron - Fairlawn and Cuyahoga Falls are incredibly nice and then Stow is nearly 15 min away and very nice as very well.
