10 days loose within LA.?

January 18th 2009 I finish a group tour of southern America and have 10 days free within LA before I fly posterior home. What can you recommend as "must do's" during my stay there? Or if anyone’s be on any great day tours they notably recommend? This will be my first time in America and I’m travelling solo. Thanks :)

Answers:
Have lunch on the coast at the Paradise Cove or a drink at the Polo Lounge Piano Bar.

Go to the Getty, the Modern Art & Architecture or the Petersen Auto Museum.

Take a Neon tour or the Dearly Departed tour.

Be in the studio audience for a hit show.

Have Fun!
Lily, here is no Dali Museum or Holocaust Museum in Los Angeles...

There are deeply of great museums in LA though. LACMA, MOCA, the Getty Center, the Getty Villa, California Science Center, Peterson Automotive Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Huntington, etc.

Other must dos: Disneyland, Santa Monica (3rd Street Promenade and the pier), Venice Beach, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Old Town Pasadena, Griffith Park Observatory, Aquarium of the Pacific.

Since you will hold 10 days, you might consider taking a side trip, such as Las Vegas, San Diego, or wine tasting up within Santa Barbara.
resourcefully
disney land is a must
next universal studios
o and LA zoo

but if u can, travel to san diego for the zoo and aquarium
Disneyland is in anaheim, but its solely about twenty miles away from LA, and you can arrange for transportation through your hotel (there are shuttle busses for give or take a few $15) Also Id reccomend the walk of standing, the beach, and seeing a tv show be tape...Its FREE, and you can see celebrities for sure www.tvtix.com and www.1iota.com are two places to return with the free tix, as well as in attendance are booths on hollywoof blvd and at the studeios themselves.
well, you specifically want to go to disneyland and you want to stir to hollywood & highland (thats where they enjoy the walk of fame)
you probably will want to dance to venice beach/santa monica promenade.
also you might want to see if you can go to griffith park observatory *look online because you might obligation a reservation.
you might also think around going to rodeo drive in beverly hill to walk around and pane shop, or robertson boulevard near beverly boulevard thats where on earth the stores like kitson are and the ivy restraurant where on earth alot of celebs go during the week, and sunset boulevard to put your foot around or go to clubs/nightlife/bars.
i live here, and i really don't imagine anything is that amazing that is a must see. enjoy fun!
Hang out at Hermosa beach, or if you want to see the L.A. freaks, artist and body builders, walk to Venice Beach. You have to see the Hollywood sign while your here.

There are literally hundreds of things to do here contained by LA. Here is my top ten list:

Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion company can’t be wrong. (Sometimes it seems adjectives at once)

Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. And Universal City Walk is a fun place to droop out in the evening after your light of day inside the park.

Hollywood: Hollywood Boulevard is ready for its close-up, thankfulness to years of urban renewal and renovation. Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Chinese Theatre and more. You can see a lot for free. The Hollywood & Highland complex have lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater (home of the Academy Awards). I also like the El Capitan theater, because it have been restored to its former glory.

Rodeo Drive, 90210: Packed near exclusive shops, full of gawkers. They all come to enjoy the excess. Free, unless you intend to buy something.

Venice Beach: Los Angeles kitsch and over-the-top culture at its best. Here you'll find Muscle Beach, street performer and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dismal, when it gets for a time TOO interesting for my taste. And it's a short bike ride from Santa Monica Pier.

Santa Monica Beach and Pier: Great seaside scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that have been contained by a lot of TV and movies. (The Sting and "Three's Company" come straight to mind). After visiting the pier, you can ride a bike south a couple miles to Venice Beach.

Santa Monica Third Street Promenade - Downtown Santa Monica's shopping promenade is habitually the scene of movie star-sightings. Just a short walk from the Santa Monica Pier.

Sunset Boulevard: Perhaps one of the world's most foremost streets, it began as a route between the stars' posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the the deep, passing through the "Sunset Strip" on its track. It makes for a fun drive. Along the opening, you see a lot of different neighborhoods: Hollywood, West Hollywood, Bel Air, and Pacific Palisades. When you achieve to the ocean, stop at Gladstone's for Fish.

Queen Mary: Once the largest ship afloat, she's be docked in Long Beach for longer than she sail, and her elegance never fail to impress. Free to visit. You can in truth stay on board, for a price.

Farmers Market and The Grove - A hot shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles signpost, The Grove and Farmers Market coexist. Enjoy a movie or shopping, and then steal the trolley to the Farmers Market for lunch or dinner. It is right next to CBS, so totter across the lot to see if they are taping "The Price is Right". You might even acquire in.

Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage.

Getty Museum - The Getty's architecture is so fine that it keeps me fascinated. No issue whether you like their art or architecture better (or perchance you'll just relish the view), the Getty is sure to please. Free.

Attend a TV taping - You can seize free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, tvtix.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It's greatly interesting to see a show being tape. The most popular, by far, is the Tonight show with Jay Leno. Check the NBC net site for all the details in attendance.

Places to eat:
In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger within LA, ask anyone.
Pink’s Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a legend. Maybe.
Tommy’s Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly & Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown.
Canter’s Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly & Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a idol.
Phillippe’s: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, it’s hot.
The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, (I NEVER munch through there after dark), GREAT steak and eggs.

Places to Stay:
In Hollywood, I recommend the Renaissance Hotel at Hollywood and Highland, the Best Western Sunset Plaza, or the Holiday Inn Walk of Fame.
In Anaheim, I recommend the HoJo Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. If you want to splurge and get this a most memorable trip, stay at Disney’s Grand Californian. You return with the full Disney experience.
In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced.

Places to Shop:
Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica
Beverly Center, Los Angeles
Citadel Outlets, Commerce
Brea Mall, Brea
The Block at Orange, Orange
South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa
Fashion Island, Newport Beach
go to disneyland
err. The Dali Museum? the Houlocaust musem? if you like museums that is to say. Er, you can go to hollywood and Rodeo Drive. There arent usually any leading people within but it's tourist friendly. And you can go to Universal Studios, there's food and shopping near too. ya. that's my advice c:

&& Disneyland is contained by Anaheim, not LA
