There are some shows and concerts he could detain too, depends on when he's coming. Also there is Gameworks by the MGM for a place to enjoy a beer and shoot some billiards.

Visit the Golden Gate Hotel downtown (one of the oldest hotels in the city) for their 99 cent shrimp cocktail (do this while visit Fremont St). Drive rental car to the Hoover Dam. Really pretty a site and do go on the tour.
Tell him not to cram too much into his days and to thieve time out to just chill out at the pool and relax.

We did the helicopter tour that included an afternoon offroad experience around Hoover dam and Lake Mead.

Remember in attendance are people who will pick up the wallet if they procure a chance when at the casino enclose (happened to my brother) or pick your pockets so keep wallet surrounded by front pocket.

Enjoy the buffet the best deals for meal
Try a Cirque show, there are five, but Mystere at Treasure Island be voted best by locals
Sleep in overdue, sit by the pool and enjoy the eye candy, and purely relax. Remember this is the Mohave Desert so can be HOT during the day and cool at hours of darkness
