Chicago!! Do you want Macy's to rename the State Street store Fields again?

Answers:
Actually, I'd love it. But it won't come up. The name transfer to Macy's was part of a set of a plan to make adjectives the department store chains that Macy's owned Macy's stores. This strategy has worked at every other cuff except for the Field's chain, more than ever downtown. As Michael P points out, sales are down substantially since the baptize change happen. But if anyone thinks that Macy's will cavern, they should look at the recent Tribune article (11/8 Business section) on the issue. It points out that Macy's at this point, after a year of trying to woo the Field's fans, have given up. Now they're trying to make change to bring in different customers. If you missed it, here's the article, though it won't be available for long:

And if anyone think that Macy's will reconsider, because of the deteriorating sales, consider that when sale dropped, Carson's closed it's big State Street store. This is business. Macy's will likely dump the downtown location previously changing the baptize, because they have too much invested within their current branding strategy. They can't go hindmost. Field's is, unfortunately, gone for correct.
yes , i prefer Fields
I don't know if it can be changed back to Fields. But i close to Fields because of its history and connection next to the city. Since its new entitle it does not have that charm and historic helpfulness that this store had nearer.
I cannot bring myself to shop contained by a Macy's in Chicago. It make me want to puke. The state street store at least should own stayed a Marshall Field's. So I've just started boycotting Macy's entirely, as I expect a lot of others hold. At least they kept frango mints, but it still sucks.
Yea, Marshall Fields be a staple of Chicago. It was unquestionably part of Chicago History. Changing the designation of the State Street Marshall's would be just as bleak if, oh, let's say Nordstrom bought Sears and turned the Sears Tower into the Nordstrom Tower. But it won't ensue. Macy's bought it and they decided to amend the name.
yes!! It never should have changed! Marshall Fields is Chicago! What give or take a few the Frango mints people!! :)
I would like for it to BE Field's again, but as other posters enjoy noted, that won't happen, which is lamentable. The New York store that pushed in merely does not represent anywhere near like peas in a pod standard of quality and service that Field's did.

Marshall Field's, I'm afraid, is little more than a memory immediately, and yet another individual and treasured aspect to Chicago has vanished.

All of America is individual New Yorkified and suburbified, and soon there will run alongside nothing that will allow us to distinguish one American town from the subsequent. How exciting.
Yes. Marshall Field's is a staple contained by Chicago history. Macy's is a big enough company, everyone would still set they own it but I think they should tuning the name put money on.
Not Really I approaching Macy's Better. and plus Macy's bought out fields complety so they would never adapt it back anyway
Last year even before Macy's changed the pet name, there be a movement afoot to make sure Macy's know about it. One of the sites created is call http://www.fieldsfanschicago.org/. This is basically a grassroots energy to let Macy's know how foolish Chicagoans are that Marshall Fields underwent the change it did to become the bland store Macy's is.

There seems to be the idea that the movement is working since sales are instrument down since Macy's took over last year.

Anyway lug a look at the site for yourself.
I still don't have a handle on why they didn't leave the christen Marshall Field's and add "by Macy's" or Macy's Marshall Fields. What's the difference? It's still Macy's. But would fashion everyone happy.
I did not grow up in the Chicago nouns. I've only be here for about 18 years. Furthermore, I never even shopped at Fields that recurrently. However, I will never step foot into any Macy's store and this is why.

I will never shop where I am not valued. The executives at Macy's did not merit the Chicago shoppers. They said, "FU" in mighty big track.

Retail is *all* about customer service. Macy's made a pointed choice to serve their own corporate ego and not the Chicagoland shoppers.

I hope their hubris take them down for good.
A lot of people are hung up on the cross. I think Macy's would be more popular if they at smallest kept the State St. store named Marshal Fields, however outside of the nickname Macy's is terrible, I work within so I know for a fact adn from experience. I enjoy heard relations say Macy's is lower feature merchandise, now that can be debate, however Macy's service sucks! Marshal Fields had populace who's job be specifically to walk the store and assist out if there be ever a line. Marshal Fields also have adaquete staff to staff the store. Macy's regularly has 2 general public working the entire downstairs at the location I work at. It's a running joke that there's nobody to ring up customers. The store I work at is a prank to both customers and employees. It's not lately the name, Macy's sucks as a business.
