Vaca-ing surrounded by manhattan?
my boy friend and i are going to manhattan in two weeks and we're staying 18 blocks south of centralized park on 5th ave. I found a restuarant we want to go to specifically on 5th ave, 9 blocks north of our hotel and 9 blocks south of central park. after dinner we want to move about ice skating within central park. I be thinking wed just saunter to the restaurant, seeing the city up close and personal (we've never been), and then after dinner walking to middle park. I don't know how long the blocks are though so I don't know how do-able walkin 9 blocks is. Or should we just cart a cab up 5th?

A hackney carriage is a good item if you don't have time. But as you are visit the city and on 5th Avenue there are nice churches and stores to see, that I would indeed recommend walking.
Also, depending on the time of the light of day, areas around 57th and 59th street can be very crowded, that you if truth be told have a long loaf in traffic beside your cab.
I remember walking 20 streets within 20 minutes speeding. So my guess is that it will take you possibly 10-15 minutes to get here, if you take your time.
Regular MTA buses are a great entry, when you want to see soemthing from the city. Buses on 5th Avenue are going south (always a good passageway to get hindmost to the hotel). If you want to get a bus going north, you will own to go to Madison Avenue. You can download a bus map from the intermingle below.
Unfortunately there is not a subway directly following the trail of 5th Ave, however during your stay you will probably use different directions where the subway comes within handy.
Write me if you need restaurant recommendation from the Zagat.
I would walk instead of using the taxicab .. 9 blocks is nothing. I would step from 33rd to 42nd to 50th whenever I go to the city.
I don't dream up you should *ever* take a hackney carriage up Fifth unless it is two way traffic at that point.Fifth Avenue traffic go downtown ..up Madison, ok?
Now..when I first read this, I thought it was for homework assistance and was contained by the wrong section...but because I get stuck in the groove, I will show my work !!
Central Park starts on
59th St
minus 18 blocks = 41st where on earth your hotel is and your restaurant is north 9 blocks which gives us 50th St...and consequently up to the Skating Rink. the skating rink is inside the park, so you could enter at 59th and then stride thru the park . so let's say it is 9 blocks + anything distance along the paths you must step
However it is at night you want to shift? Well, certainly you are contained by a perfectly undisruptive section of town, although by after dinner it is not adjectives that fun since everyone has gone home ... closely of those stores along Fifth and Madison do not stay open unpunctually..(like Gucci, Cartier, H. Winston, Henri Bendel, Buccellati, Asprey ...but Trump Tower on Fifth (56th-57th)is open, within case you might resembling a pit stop .but you can walk, logically. It is not a long distance, and there is closely to look at if you walk up Fifth (that stretch of Madision is not as much fun) and it is pretty at darkness, especially up near 57th and the Park
So, if it is a nice darkness, I would definitely hike !!
You're coming to NY, get used to walking.
9 blocks is nought to walk surrounded by this city. I don't get on a train or frozen rain a cab unless I'm going at least possible 20 blocks, otherwise I just start walking.
