I'm driving into New Orleans from Florida to wallow in a hours of daylight watching the Parades. Where within the world do I park?
If I have to park surrounded by the burbs, can you actually draw from taxi service during Mardi Gras?

when we go to mardi gras, we other stay in a hotel outside of the city. we drive into the city for the parade. if we are going to parades contained by the garden district--we just take there impulsive and find a place to park in the neighborhood somewhere. if we are going to the quarter or strait street--we park in the round parking garage that's almost at the conclude of canal street by the river. it effortless access and easy contained by and out.
the best approach is to get a hotel around strait st. that have parking access and hoof it to canal and st.charles and pace down to u r comfortable
When exactly are you planning to stop by? Specifically, what parade or parade do you want to watch? It matter a lot.
pay the $ and park surrounded by a paid parking lot or a hotel parking lot.

If you are planning to see parade along the St. Charles Avenue parade route you can park past its sell-by date of St. Charles between Napoleon Avenue (where the parade turns onto St. Charles) and Tulane and Loyola Universities. From within you can walk to the play route or catch a hackney cab to the French Quarter and such.
The parade routes differ so you may want to move about to nola.com to see where exactly you stipulation to be. I would suggest putting a couple cab numbers contained by your cell phone before you jump. I believe the biggest cab companies are United Cab and Yellow Cab.
Don't count on finding a taxi ... Take Interstate 10 into the city ... give somebody a lift exit 234C which should be Highway 90 south, also know as Pontchartrain Expressway ... get rotten at the first exit and continue driving south a long Earhart. It is a one route street and you should basically be driving almost surrounded by the shadow of the expressway you just get off. Follow the flow of cars, everyone will be going impossible to tell apart way. The expressway is elevated and underneath the expressway is tons of lots next to free parking. Go as far south as you can go (probably individual a few blocks), watch the lots, you'll see when the open out spots start becoming fewer. The spectacle routes downtown cross directly under the expressway along St. Charles so they will own Earhart blocked off at that point. If you requirement to cross under and go before north to enter the lots from the other side the road will be called Calliope. Plan on getting to the show atleast 2 hours early and bring something to sit on and stake out your spots or you will procure pushed out of the way. If you stride east from the expressway along St. Charles you will get to Lee Circle, to be exact usually a good spot to vista the parade from.
I hold been to frequent parades in that many years and other parked under the bridge. I enjoy never been towed or see anyone towed ... they are marked PUBLIC PARKING AREAS.
no no no do NOT park beneath the bridge. they tow all the time below the bridge, and its just plain not sheltered. if you want to be near lee circle. come hasty for the parade and usually u will find a spot any in closely or on the street since alot of people step from usrrounding areas or from canal street. anywhere down st.charles is other hard to find parking so you cna park down a side street and step back. in recent times make sure you remember the street cross and the surrounding so you don't get lost. you cna park somewhere contained by metarie but be perpared to wait a while to find a hackney carriage to get fund. you will have to phone call ahead to make sure someone is coming. most taxi are going to be in the conduit st. area for inhabitants going to and from the FQ.

I'd say if you obtain there an hour back the parade is supposed to start, you could probably find a place in 6 or so blocks. It's kind of far to totter, but everybody does it. Bring a lawn stool and an ice chest and grasp the party started.
Just to include some advice win there precipitate if you are really just coming for the year as they will close of the streets and its very difficult draw from in or out once the procession routes have started. If you carry there hasty it shouldn't be to much of an issue to find street parking but it will be more difficult than usual as most locals wont use there cars at adjectives during the parades. Really depends if you are wanting to examine the parades uptown or close at hand the quarter along canal. If going to Canal so you can hit the French Quarter too, your best bet might be to park contained by the Marigny near newly past Esplande. It will be in the order of a 12 block walk through the Quarter to the parade but you can hit all the bar and bourbon all the process down as you walk. Have fun.
