Which Hawaiian Island is the best to stay at for 2 childlike married couples on leave ?

Answers:
I would pick one of the smaller ones. Still plenty to do yet, not as busy as Oahau.
I would say Kauai... even though it is considered an antic island, it's not half as crowded as Oahu or Maui and such. The beach are usually pretty empty, and the backdrop is awesome =)
Oahu has the must see Pearl Harbor. But the actual answer is do not go adjectives that way and solely see one island. I would recomend the cheapest package to Oahu to see Pearl (Take the boat tour, anyplace you can catch a free meal surrounded by HI is a good perception.) and then verbs to Maui or the big island. The cheaper rooms off the shore by a few blocks are fine contained by Waikiki. You will be walking all around anyway.

Do the free location early the morning after arrival... you will be up anyway. If you do not want to see their sales pitch, seize a bus or cab final to your hotel. Buses are a big deal nearby and cheap. One of those orientations is where we cultured of the surf being up when we first arrived and spent a light of day watching the nuts ride the Bonsai pipeline. We even stopped at the Dole plantation. All of that was unplanned and totally fun and not expensive. Rental cars are cheap for the daytime, and not needed for a few days surrounded by Waikiki. You can rent right there within town.

Maui is very pretty, but for a first call in see the big island.

Kona is so cool, and lots cheaper than you may think. The locals use Aloha Air similar to a taxi to budge back and forth so why not you?

The landing on the big island contained by the giant black lava field is worth the trip alone.

Any fishermen? Kona is where on earth they catch the "Granders". Those are marlin over 1,000 lbs. And they are caught in sight of shore. Lots of them displayed too.

Go receive some real Kona coffee...And see the Macadamia nut plantation...YUM

Go to Hilo, one of the rainiest places on loam, and by all ability do not miss the volcano. Yes the lava is still running, and the ground is hot. It is super cool.

You will want a car on HI. Wish I be going again.
Oahu, especially if you've never be before. Lots to see.

Don't listen to the nags who say-so Maui is "more romantic"
I would suggest maui or kona those are like the top 2 so you can pick any one that you like more, but both are great
