My Husband and I Are Going to Maui, Any Tips?
So far we've been told that we'll stockpile money if we locate a Wal-Mart or grocery store rather than ingestion at restaurants. Any other tips?

I definitely rented a condo and it be waaaay cheaper in Maui.
I of late did some searching and negotiate with the owners. They be happy to rent out their condo for 10 days, a bit than have it uninhabited and make no money.
So that help with the meal.

Go to Black Rock for snorkeling. It be one of my favorite things I did in Maui. We go back several times.
Also, I'd recommend bringing the book "Maui Revealed." All kind of great tips.
If you are planning on staying there for roughly 2 weeks I suggest you do go to a Costco and buy doesn`t matter what you need. Maui is impressively expensive to live and eat surrounded by. Unless you are going to go to swiftly food restaurants you wont spend less than $30 for two race each time you progress out to eat. When I go with my husband the first entry we did when we landed be go to Costco. It save us a lot of money. Put it this passageway you will need to get through at least 2-3 times a daytime and at $30 each time can win really expensive. The room my husband and I stayed in have a complete kitchen so we were other able to chomp through breakfast, lunch and dinner without hurting out pockets. Also, if you are planning on going verbs seeing on more than 3 activities I suggest you walk to a Time Share Seminar. One of the popular streets to go stop by is Front Street. There you will find lots of activity centers that own good deal. The catch on them is to budge to a Time Share Seminar. It's about 2 hours but worth it. You procure your activities at discounted rates for have gone. My husband and I did the Hana Tour, Helicopter Ride, Submarine Ride, Snorkeling and a Luau. We saved almost $300. You can try and see what your hotel offer as a discount but you still need to see what the vendor on Front Street offer. You wont miss them within is a lot of them. One other article I would suggest for you to go see is the Aquarium surrounded by Maui. It is beautiful. Also if you plan on renting snorkeling gear to use at the shore I suggest you don't rent them from your hotel. If you have some very soon take them along beside you on your trip. It is really expensive renting them from a hotel. There are a lot of snorkeling shops around the island and they rent the gear for up to $5 a year compared to over $20 at your hotel. Have a great time and enjoy Maui's atmostphere as much as possible. You will miss it once you are gone.
Of course you can save money by preparing your own meal, but the restaurants aren't too much higher than any other resort nouns I've been to.
Besides the road to Hana and Haleakala (East Maui) the ride around West Maui is also worth doing. Just look at the map and you will see that the roads follow the scenic coastline, it's a great drive.
If you move about to Hana the restaurant at the hotel is very greatly expensive, $16 for a burger. There is a taco stand about 5 or 10 miles until that time you get to Hana. Great pork tacos and baked breadfruit. Four of us ate, next to soft drinks, for under $25.

Well, yes, you'll save money, simply as you do with that approach at home. But Maui have such great restaurants--you'd be missing out!
I have to acknowledge, though, that when I go to Maui to play for a few days (I live on Molokai) I eventually hold too much fabulous restaurant food, and I get to the point where on earth I want to eat something simple, close to macaroni and cheese or a Lean Cuisine. It makes sense to cook breakfast and dinner within a condo. In many ways that's more convenient. But try and drink lunch at some of the great places I've linked below.

The folks on Maui hate, despise, hate the guide book Maui Revealed. Some of the landowners hold tried to chase trespassers off death-defying spots on their land, simply to have the trespassers swell that book in their frontage and say, "It's a state park!" Other landowners, who allowed locals access to a force, for example, have gated past its sell-by date their property because they are tired of cleaning up after tourists and scared of individual sued if a tourist says, "Hey, study this!" and injures themselves doing something stupid.
Please try and have much respect for the locals as you want populace who visit your neighborhood to hold respect for you. You only hold to put up with strange local ways for a week or two on time off. Locals have to contract with tourists 365 days a year.
Tips:
Don't jump to the beach between 9 am and 3 pm to avoid getting sunburned. After 3 is a fabulous time to progress to the beach. Before 9, the dampen can be a little cold.
Ask the folks at your local snorkel shop where on earth the best spot is today.
Allow time to do nothing!
Avoid Buzz's Wharf contained by Maalaea. Overpriced, mediocre food, lousy service.
There so many things you can do contained by Maui like look in the rain forest - step on tour or get a map and walk on your own. You can try Maui Downhill Bike Tours - a really nice experience you don't want to miss. You can go to Maui Ocean Center, the Hawaiian Aquarium, is a great stir during any vacation to Maui. Then near are local food places not necesarrily at a hotel that are not that expensive you can try. Get yourself those free tour books for coupons for a lot things to do and places you can drink. If you are okay just to devour what you are used to, and if it's okay not to taste Hawaiian food or Hawaiian fusion, next you can just engender your own meal if your condo have the facility. You can also make your own Hawaiian food that are already prepared at most grocery stores. Then try to treat yourself and your husband to a luau at lowest possible once.

First entry you should do as soon as you are settled in your place. Go outside your lanai/balcony, close your eyes and touch the warm cool breeze of Maui for awhile. For me, it's resembling I'm being cradle within my mother's warm not dangerous arms. It's so Zen like.
that is to say a very virtuous tip that you received. if you have a costco card you'll find costco to hand the airport. you'll see it on the left paw side before the street buoyant...can't miss it. right next to it is k-mart too. be respectful...if you are you wont hold problems. take a ride up to haleakala for a spectacular sunrise or sunset...im troubled to say that i can't muse over if i ever seen a sunrise up here...i have to bring in time for that next time i travel home. if you're up for a long drive head out to hana. the view are amazing! it's definitely a LONG drive though so try step on a tour bus/van so you can just relax and delight in the scenery. check out the frail lahaina luau or ulalena...they are both good shows. hold a walk on front street...it's a pretty cruise item to do. we used to do that during the summer when it was time for college shopping. um...sorry, im pretty tired right now...my brain isn't fuctioning properly. if i remember i will come and gag this later on today. it's time for bed for me! oh, most earth-shattering...have a safe and sound trip and enjoy your stay on the exquisite island i call home...maui no ka oi!(maui is the best!)

repress...YES, there are that tons tourist that are rude to locals. im sure they are like that where on earth ever they live too. those are the people that hoof it with their nose in the atmosphere beccause they think they are better. or you own the ones that try something like poi and voice all the things wrong in the region of it. if you don't like something say-so you don't like...don't engineer a big fuss about it surrounded by front of everyone. i remember when i was a freshmen surrounded by high college and i worked at a tourist shop/restaurant...this tourist family come in to buy hot dogs and shave rime. well, they didn't know that most restaurants surrounded by hawaii serve red hot dogs. so, this girl takes a big bite out of the hot dog and spits it on the floor (in our shop) and say "ew it's not cooked! it's red! i told her it is cooked that's just the color of the hot dog...she threw it within the trash and walked out next to an ugly frontage. my point there is she shouldn't own acted so rude...she could have spit surrounded by a napkin. i have to enunciate though, there are also profoundly of friendly tourist...they usually are the ones who go to hawaii regularly.
Rent a condo, much cheaper,
I bought everything I needed at Wal-Mart when I got in that. It is not always cheaper to buy stuff contained by a store and make it yourself. There are plenty of cheap deal around the island.
If you rent a vehicle, rent from Adventure Rent a Jeep (808) 877-6626. When you rent from a commercial company, they restrict the areas that you can drive in, similar to the north shore or past the seven pools. This company let you take their vehicle anywhere on the island. And their jeeps have automatic nouns if you don't want to bother with a stick shift. And their rates are low.
I would markedly take the road to Hana. The drive is exquisite! There are cd's that you can buy that will narrate the drive for you, but I didn't bother. It is such a pretty drive that I didn't want to hear a voice constantly telling me what to look at. A few miles down the road, on the gone hand side, in that is an area near little food shacks. The lady contained by the middle sells the best fish tacos on the island.
Another fixed is the north shore road. Some of the best and most awesome scenery is out near. To see most of it, you have to verbs over, park, and walk rather ways, but it is so worth it! When you get towards the downfall, it turns into a really small one-lane road on the side of a cliff. But don't let it terrify you, it doesn't last for that long.
Lahaina is a typical tourist trap, but brand sure that you don't miss it. There is a lot of history in attendance and a lot of endowment shopping. Get on the main street through downtown and drive bygone the downtown area. A little ways out of town, nearby is a place called the Aloha Mixed Grill. Best lunches on the island.
Since you don't do dampen, head to what they phone the upcountry. The Surfing Goat Dairy is a good stop. Check their website http://www.surfinggoatdairy.com for tours. They are profusely of fun and the baby goats are so cute! You will finds tons of things to do freshly by driving around.
For more upscale shopping, hit Wailea. For a fun afternoon, go to Kihei. There are drummers that play within a park on the beach and plenty of outdoor market to buy souveniers at.
If you go to Hana, I recommend stopping at Ohe'o Gulch Seven Sacred Pools. You will stipulation reasonable shoes.
I hold been twice and it is one of my favorite spots on the island.
