Which is a better Queens or Brooklyn?
I am moving to NY this summer for grad school. My arts school is in Manhattan, but I can't afford to live near. I was looking at the burrows that are a short time cheaper, but are still nice and safe. I be told to check out parts of Queens and Brooklyn. Just curious what people living contained by NYC thought? I am just looking for something explicitly relatively priced, safe, and have a short commute to the city.

My mother was raise in Queens and she say the housing prices are reasonable and the populace are relatively nice. She says Brooklyn is more spaced out and suburban.
Either bourough is a short commute.
Depends on your taste.
Both boroughs are good- it depends on what part you want to live within and what part of Manhattan you will be commuting to. For example, if you are going to Hunter College on the Upper East Side, Queens - especially Long Island City and Astoria - will be a closer commute. On the other foot, if you are going to NYU or Pace (downtown Manhattan), Brooklyn (especially downtown Brooklyn) will be much closer.
All those neighborhoods are safe and close to the city- however, adjectives those neighborhoods are quite popular presently, so the rents in those areas (and other "hip" areas close to Williamsburg, Brooklyn) are going up. To get lower rents, you will own to go to neighborhoods resembling Middle Village (Queens) or Midwood (Brooklyn), but then you won't be as close to the city (and you won't be contained by a trendy part of the borough.)

I live in Brooklyn (Sheepshead Bay) and I be aware of it's pretty safe and nice here (I come to NYC one year ago).
Usually if ehat you rent is close to a subway station is kind a uncomplicated to get to Manhattan, so try to find something within an area that have subway stops.

Brooklyn by a landslide. Better schools, more business, everything is better contained by Brooklyn.
(Sheepshead bay, seagate and mil mixing bowl are the 3 best places to move too.)
They BOTH have their Advantages & Disadvantages...- so permit your "tastes" & the size of your Wallet- be your Guide...
Check out Astoria, Queens or Greenpoint Brooklyn both affordable nice places to live. The commute into Manhattan is fast. Just a few stops on the train.
Overall Queens is better than Brooklyn.
Astoria Queens is nice but don't live contained by Long Island City - it is all projects and two lux buildings contained by the midst of it all
Brooklyn - at hand are good and fruitless areas but it might take longer to commute
stir 2 park slope, its full of grad students and basically everything else. and its alot cheaper than tha city. If anything, you could even move to Hoboken, New Jersey. It's literally 5 minutes away from the city and much cheaper.
