What is the best south east state to live surrounded by?

I would voice Georgia or North Carolina
I live in the north east, and hold traveled up and down the east coast several times, I to have be looking to relocate and the one state I fell in love near is South Carolina. Florida is nice and there is plentifully to do but there seem to be a extremely high crime rate. South Carolina is close to everything but more comfortable for living. Cost of living is low and the salary seem to be suitable, and it's beautiful.
