Best time to turn rear to Airport within NYC?
I have a flight that leaves the JFK airport for CA 7:35 PM saturday dark so I probably have to be at the airport by 6:10PM-- closer the better.
My hotel is Hotel Alexander in Upper West Side.
From JFK TO my hotel, I be planning on taking the subway system which is about 1hr and 38mins according to Hopstop but on the channel back, we are on a time crunch sooo we're probably going to embezzle the most expensive way, taxis-- a 45 minute drive...lacking traffic. When does traffic start getting heavy-- or are taxis purely inconvenient?
So any New Yorkers out there?
Answers:
Your best bet is to clutch the LIRR from Penn Station to Jamaica Station and then the Air Train to the airport. I do this 3-5 times a week and it take about 45 minutes.
You want to be within by 6:10... So I'd say bestow at 4... Give yourself plenty of time - just contained by case.
You're on the upper west side so you can pocket a cab or the subway (red 1/2/3 or blue A/C/E) to 34th Street Penn Station and carry a LIRR Jamaica ticket there... Then once you're contained by Jamaica, you can buy the Air Train ticket right at the entrance.
A taxi to JFK? Insane. Last time I tried to steal the MidTown Tunnel on a Saturday I waited surrounded by traffic for over 2 hours...
On and a subway ride is $2.00 one-way. LIRR will run you about $7-$9 and the Air Train is $5.
Good luck,
Rachael
