Do you obligation a passport to drive into and out of Canada (back into the US)?

I'll be passing through Canada, will I obligation a passport to get final into the US or will a government issued ID work? I've read both yes and no... any idea's are appriciated

Answers:
yes
No!! It is not required to hold a passport by land or ocean to Canada or Mexico, but that will change June 1, 2009.
Not on the other hand, but you will by June 2009. You DO already need a passport if you fly, but if driving the 'settled requirement' between Canada and Homeland Security is two pieces of GOVERNMENT-issued ID and at tiniest one must be photo ID.

To be sure, contact your local INS office back you leave!

Both government are working on an ID-card idea but, human being governments, will probably in fact come up with them three months after you die.
yes you will
