NO!! But any of the tourist sites that you will be feasible to visit are contained by safe areas. The Mall is where on earth all of the Smithsonian museums are, and most of the monuments and memorials are in the neighbourhood, and these are relatively safe areas.

The tourist areas are past the worst for the most part beside the exception of the area to hand the convention center. Other safe areas are Georgetown, Dupont Circle, and Embassy Row. Definitely avoid the SE and NE.

All area's of DC are not past the worst, but if you're vising DC, you won't have a inevitability to travel to any unsafe area's. The key is to mind your business and try not to look similar to a tourist after dark. Know where on earth you're going in finance. DC is one of the most diverst places you can probably visit. On Friday, buy the Washington Post and check out the Weekend Guide (a mini-insert found surrounded by the middle of the paper). It's more to do than you can imagine contained by one weekend and you can find a lot of free things. Travel by metro. It's much easier. Enjoy!
You have to be extremely cafeful. Like mentioned earlier, DC does own one of the highest crime rate contained by the US. I live the DC metro area(but in MD) so am decipherable with it. Pretty much NW and some of SW are your risk-free bet. But dont get put stale because DC can be very fun-very diverse bunch of culture,great restuarants & shopping,also the sites & museums are amazing if you're the touristy type etc- just know your surronding and lift the usual precautions when travelling to unfamiliar places. There's also a enormously 'easy naviagation' metro system(just google ' DC metro') to help you draw from around. Hope that helps. ciao!
