A lot of things to do in cove area.
Check out the Mission district- That's be the locals go. Everyone like the Mission for varied amounts of reason:
1 Everything is hella cheap
2 You can find every type of restaurants ( Most to all of em are amazingly good)
3 Tourist don't go in that
4 Every body is friendly
5 There may only be 1 Starbucks (16/Bryant ) Here I found this site it can explain more

Visit North sand! Columbus Avenue is the main thoroughfare and it's amusing enough to purely wander up and down window-shopping, drinking or stopping at a sidewalk cafe for some people-watching. If you take the time to stray off the worsted track, you'll find some of the area's most interesting sights. It's full of surprises, and while I miss some of the old spots that enjoy disappeared it's still a great place to spend some time. Alcatraz is cool but after all it's single an abandoned prison, the weather can be unpleasant, it stinks during seagull nesting season, and it take up almost half a daytime to go at hand and back. Bus tours are OK and you will carry the lay of the land but fashion sure it spends enough time for you to pop in on foot some of the more interesting sights. Also, I close to Haight Street, off the east winding up of Golden Gate Park (between Stanyan and Buena Vista Park) famous for the intersection of Haight & Ashbury Streets, the Summer of Love (2007 mottled the 40th anniversary!) and hippies now includes an interesting collection of caf¨¦, vintage clothing stores, nightclubs, and colorful residents. I'm sure you'll call round Fishermen Wharf, Pier 29, etc., on the waterfront for some fresh fish. Take a cable car for a treat too. So much to do and even 10 days will budge fast.
Definitely walk to Fisherman's Wharf! You could easily teem an entire day walking around, watching street entertainment, going to shops, Ghirardelli Square is close by, touring time of war subs, and you have to do a boat tour to Alcatraz! Take lots of brass to park if you plan on driving there though - concluding time I went it be like $15 for the first partly hour of parking and like $6 or so every partially hour after that. You can save some money if you hold a cab or utilize public transportation! You can also ensnare an old fashioned street motor tour from the Wharf.

I really wanted to jump to the Winchester House - it is south of San Fran. But I didn't have time during my trips down in attendance. There is also Six Flags Marine World in San Jose - that be a lot of fun!
I'm not sure about the bus tour. SF is in fact a fairly small city, and you should know how to see most of it during your stay.

Alcatraz is a definite DO. I also recommend the Exploratorium, which is a hands-on science museum, next to many of its experiments created by local college students.

You shouldn't leave behind up Golden Gate Park. The Japanese Tea Garden there is a great place for a picnic lunch, and the Arboretum have just be remodeled, so it's a definite must-see. Under majority circumstances, I'd recommend the Steinhart Aquarium and Natural History Museum at the Academy of Sciences, but they're closed for renovation until the end of September.

Definitely jump to China Town! It's the largest Chinatown outside of Asia, and is fun to just explore. I importantly recommend stopping for Dim Sum at one of the great Chinese restaurants while you're there!

If you can afford it, one of my favorite restaurants contained by SF is called Farallon. It's only off of Union Square (where you should patently do some shopping), on Post Street. The building it's in used to house an indoor swimming pool, and they enjoy kept the tile mosaic of Neptune on the ceiling. This works with the rest of their decor, which is intended to generate you feel as if you're lower than the sea. The decor is great - the food is fantastic!

In August, you'll be here during baseball season. The unmarked AT&T park is right in the city, and is a really nice park. Almost every form has a estimation of the bay (although I recommend avoiding the seating directly above left paddock, as you can't see the big screen from there).

I meditate the answer to "where do locals sway out" is going to depend on what neighborhood the locals live in. The Convention & Visitors Bureau website have more info on what's to do in respectively neighborhood.
Go to Fisherman's Wharf and own some seafood!
Alcatraz and dance over the Golden Gate Bridge on an old Fire Engine www.fireenginetours.com
Its a great route to see the area
