It vary depending on the type of food. Things that are grown there, similar to pineapples and macadamia nuts, are no more expensive than they are here, and sometimes cheaper. Packaged foods that have to be flown contained by are 10% to 20% more expensive than they are here. The biggest price difference is on non-native fresh fruits and vegetables that have be flown in from other states. They can be rather a bit more expensive than they are on the mainland.
fruits are cheap because they grown them nearby. papayas, bananas, pineapples. you pay closely for meats , cereal, canned produce, speghetti sauces, anything that has to be flown into the island is pretty a bit more expensive and the quality is much poorer than what you would expect.
white rice , fried spam and macaroni salad is the staple. lol. nearby is a reason ... it's cheap.
From what Ive seen when visit the islands over the last 7 years, just about $2-3 more on every $10.00 spent.
