Can anyone recommend a tour company for a sooner or later pop in from Waikiki to Hawaii volcano/lava flows?
Keen to leave Waikiki for a time and visit the lava flows, returning to Waikiki alike night. Travelling first week of October. Cheers and Aloha

That's going to be a long day! If you wanna give somebody a lift it easy on yourself, consider flying to Hilo and next taking a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour of the whole island. That will include a flyover of the volcano. You'll see the hot molten lava, and some other cool places.

We other used Roberts Hawaii for our inter-island travels. Their fares usually include both airfare and a rental sports car on the other island. Check them out.

The tour companies may say that they lug you to see the lava "flowing", but a volcano is very unpredictable. If I'm not mistaken, the with the sole purpose way you can currently see the juice lava flowing is by helicopter. (There was a tricky tramp you could do, but that got closed past its sell-by date because of the danger. )
As an alternative to the package tours, you might want to consider getting an interisland flight from Honolulu to Hilo airport on the Big Island. Take a helicopter tour from one of the operators surrounded by Hilo. Then, rent a car to tour Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park on your own. Interisland flights are thoroughly cheap right now.from roughly $39 one way. Sometimes they are even lower. A rental vehicle should be pretty cheap, too. I'd guess less than $40 for a sunshine. Helicopter tours are pricey, but make for a tremendous picture and memory and are worth the money.
