Washington DC! Know it? What to do during the daytime?
I am planning an outing in Washington DC for a bunch of DC local women. What should we do? A wine tour is out of the interrogate and so are any of the tourist traps. Please tell me of something out of the box and fun within DC!
Answers:
The Smithsonian Institution is not a tourist trap. Try the City Museum or the Spy Museum, as well. You can also vist the grave of Helen Keller. Try to find the Grave of the Female Stranger surrounded by VA. Don't miss the pandas (if your ladies can handle the hill of the zoo). Go to the Natl. Archives or the Library of Congress (GORGEOUS!) The National Museum of Women in the Arts sounds apt for you. Eat at Clyde's or in Clarendon (VA).
You can step to Mt. Vernon, Va.There are people from history here at certain times, and a museum immediately that has in recent times opened. It is an interesting place to enjoy lunch with "Mrs. Washington" . You can do that if at hand is a group and you reserve it in credit.
Hard to know what you would enjoy. Ever be to the Hay Adams for High Tea? That's out of the norm. Also, the spy museum is pretty cool and since it costs money to get within...you don't get the usual tourists.
Me..I live contained by Old Town...I'd find nothing greater to do than browse King Street boutiques and stopping contained by for wine tasting at adjectives of the nicer restaurants. Lunch at Restaurant Eve would be my highlight! Just some accepted wisdom.
A small picnic on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial would be smart.
Just throwing out a few suggestions:
-- Visit the new Air and Space museum out by Dulles airport. It's sour the beaten street, and has everything from a space shuttle to a Concorde to a stealth bomber to the Enola Gay. And it's not that crowded, even on weekends. Note that the museum is free but you own to pay for parking.
-- Take a walking tour, any of Georgetown or Alexandria. There are also themed ones like spectre tours or historical tours.
-- If the weather is warm, rent bicycles and ride along the C&O strait.
-- See a show at the Kennedy Center.
-- If you're going on a weekend, visit Eastern Market
Enjoy DC!
