If you aren't too acquainted with musical theater, you should see Gypsy. It includes "Everything's Coming Up Roses" and "Let Me Entertain You." Patti LuPone make a phenomenal Mama Rose. The supporting cast is amazing as economically.

what's a broadway show and how important it is to American society
All of the mentioned are great. Mary Poppins and Young Frankenstein are currently topping my list. If you're looking to amass some money, try off-broadway Altar Boyz, it's hillarious.

Of the musicals listed, I would see South Pacific. It hasn't be staged on Broadway in over 50 years. One of the adjectives time great musicals.
Of the others, I think Avenue Q is a right choice.
