What element of Maui should I stay surrounded by?
I'm going in November and I want to stay someplace that's not overcrowded next to resorts and families - but also on the seaside and near interesting outdoorsy sites/activitites.

Try living on the Eastside of the West Maui Mountain in Wailuku on LihoLiho Street. That passageway you are living in Sandhill, looking over the City, competent to see War Memorial and the College. The best part is that you also own the Sunshine in the morning and living at hand you see the Harbor and the cool evening sunset.
There really is no place that you can stay that doesn't enjoy a lot of resorts or family.
Try Maui Prince...it's a resort but since it's high priced, you're going to own less family around.

I really liked staying over surrounded by Kihei. (A bunch of friends went to stay over for the weekend) I can't remember the resort we stayed at of foot but it was really nice as if you we're within a condo. Plus there's a beach right surrounded by front or if you want to be a little more adventurous nick a short drive to little beach contained by makena it's a nice secluded nouns for sunbathers if you know what I mean. Hope you wallow in your stay. :)
Lahaina is nice, not too crowed when we were here at new years.

We run to Maui every winter and always rent a time off rental instead of staying in a hotel. Most of them are surrounded by resort settings anyway, but without the crowds. In other words, you don't own to fight for a bench at the pool.
Also if you rent a self catering accommodation you hold the choice of eating surrounded by or out so you can save money. Check out this site for some great Maui break rentals.

All the right beach areas hold hotels and resorts surrounding them, so you kind of hold to seek out your own peace and gentle, but it's not hard. I find that staying surrounded by Napili is nice, and inexpensive. The bay is great for swimming and snorkeling, and the crowd tend to be a bit more calm. I usually stay at the Mauian. Kapalua is also nice and muffled, but more pricey than Napili. Kaanapali is nice too, especially the beach and the convenience to shops and restaurants, but expensive. I also close to the Wailea/ Makena area, but I contemplate Napili would be a good place for you to look. Grab a copy of the Maui Revealed book. I hold found it extremely helpful.
Try Hotel Hana Maui. It is very serene near and you will definitely be capable of relax!
