Shelter or any housing for a homeless familial surrounded by NYC?
I travel every night on D train from 42nd street and I see older lady near her son(who's is mentally ill) sleeping on benches.
Every night for 3 months I don`t know longer. The woman is pretty adequate, verbs,so is her son.I don't know their story but I feel really sorry for them.Tried to pass them some money and food
but the main problem still unsolved-housing.Does anybody know where on earth I can call?Christmas is pretty soon and I don't want them to stay at the station.

That is so cool of you. You are a TRUE New Yorker. The Mayor had a program. I'll look on his site and see if its still ongoing. You can try http://www.hud.gov/local/ny/homeless/she... within the "Families" section. Also, you might be capable of get info from 311 as powerfully.
I hope it works out and let us know how it go.
I hope the connection below is of some help. This is a catalogue of phone numbers for the city's Department of Homeless Services.
