Im from lower east side, and manhattan is so nontoxic. Queens is dirty and people are impossible there.
All of Manhattan below 96st on the east side and 125th st on the west side is collectively considered pretty safe.
im originally from ny and went to college within the city... never had a problem... my direction... stay out of the alleys after dark... dont pass alot of cash or wear any flashy jewelery that attracts attention... manhattan is tremendously safe... its adjectives common sense... here are alot worse places you could be believe it or not...!
Ask a indisputable estate agent. Look up the crime rates for certain areas within the city. Go to a Manhattan based forum and ask.
Agreed with the first poster. New York City have become a lot safer over the years. Though, if you want to be sure, anything below 96th Street on the East Side and below 110th on the West Side are okay even though near may be small pockets of areas that may be rough...like Alphabet City (East Side...lettered avenues)
pretty much all of it. Just stay out of spanish harlem and brooklyn
New York City within general is pretty secure. It is probably the biggest safe city surrounded by the U.S. People are always around, especially police officer.
Stay below the 110's you'll be fine.
Don't believe the hype. New York is not dangerous. Its one of the only places that you can wander around the street at 3in the morning and be safe.
If money is not an risk then move where you want, look for the nicest apartment.
1. under your bed.
