I stayed in Daytona Beach this olden summer. You can drive your car onto the shoreline and swim - sunbathe, etc. I found an hours ride to St. Augustine was both a nice ride as resourcefully as a very interesting place. You can spend a few hours nearby. Enjoy!
you must visit the pier beside the little shops on it and the boardwalk and that way you can really see the beautifull the deep . good luck and enjoy a nice trip.
