Somewhere to stay surrounded by Oahu save for Waikiki?
Hey guys!
My friends and I are heading out to Hawaii at the end of the year. We are going to stay surrounded by Waikiki for the first three days and do the whole tourist point, and then herald off to Big Island for a few days for the Volcano National Park. Coming stern to Oahu, I thought it would be nice to stay somewhere other than on Waikiki again so we can bring back a fuller experience of the island.
It would be nice to stay somewhere less 'touristy' than Waikiki. However we are tourists... so I would close to somewhere where within are activities to do close by and where on earth we wouldn't be bothering the locals.
We're from Australia by the way, and pretty helpful. Also enjoy things approaching shopping, nightlife etc.
Thanks!

I would stay at Koolina or at Turtle Bay Resort for at lowest one night. They are from nightlife however, but you will experience more of the unprocessed beauty and charm of Oahu within.
Aloha
You've got three prevalent options: Ko Olina on the leeward side of the island, Haleiwa Town on the North Shore or the Kailua/Kaneohe nouns on the windward side of the island. Any of those 3 areas will be lots of fun. Ko Olina doesn't have a hours of darkness life at adjectives or any shopping but it is probably the best place for tourists to just lay rear legs and relax on private beaches. The side will just be getting big on the North Shore so you won't know how to go within the water impressively far but you will see some amazing surfing! There a couple bars contained by Haleiwa but by no means is in that a night go. But there is lots of shopping at local boutiques. I other seem to run into plentifully of Australians on the North Shore (i think because of the surfing) The Kaneohe/Kailua nouns is close enough to Honolulu whereas you could still relish the Waikiki night natural life but get away from it during the hours of daylight. There are lots of houses to rent in that nouns, check out any of the websites that people tabled above or of course craiglist. There are some amazing places to trail in Kaneohe/Kailua as capably. I'm sure you'll enjoy any place you stay. And kudos to you for realize that there's more to Oahu than just Waikiki!
I suggest Kailua. It's close ample to Honolulu/Waikiki that you could get here easily if you rent a coup¨¦, but far enough away that it's not super touristy. Try renting a house or condo here on the vrbo website someone gave you above.
i would suggest visiting the leeward westside of the island..the city of kapolei..theres a great resort call jw marriott ihilani resort and spa (which is a five star hotel) and also next to it is ko olina sand club..this resort consist of four large lagoons which is a scenic prospect of the ocean...its not as busy as waikiki and its merely 40-45 minutes away from waikiki..theres a lot to voice but just do the research and you'll find out..
North Shore is good for non tourist type things to do. Not a huge nightlife, but a local one. All of the best surfing is here, and snorkling too. You could stay at turtle firth, the only resort on this side. Or you could rent a house: http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa...
