What is at hand to do near/outside Kennedy Space Center?

I am meeting my dad who is taking my son to Kennedy Space Center for his birthday. This is a no girls allowed year at KSC. So, since I have to find a bearing to intertain myself, my dad's girlfriend, and my 2 small daughters for the day.
Does anyone live contained by that area or know of something we can do? Is near a mall relatively close by? A movie theater? Anything!

Why not spend the hours of daylight at the beach? Cocoa shore is right there.
