Amtrak offers a train/bus combination, but it is scarcely direct. If you choose the Amtrak option, you'll hold to transfer to a bus within Bakersfield headed to Los Angeles. And consequently transfer again surrounded by Los Angeles to another bus for Las Vegas. That's probably two full days of travel.
But with Virgin flying SFO-LAS for $44 one-way and Southwest offering OAK-LAS for $59 one-way -- why on dust would you want to sit on a bus for 14 hours and still pay more?
