Will here still be partying and Marti Gras stuff happing within New Orleans this week?

I am going to New Orleans tomorrow to go to a cable trade show, i am going to serve set up the booth and everything. only problem is, is that I am going to give a hand my dad. Now i know that Marti Gras was later week, and i am really not looking forward to having bead thrown around and people lifting up their tops when my dad is standing right subsequent to me. For me that it is a bit awkward. I am hoping that everything is over now though and it is simply a regular city. I have never be there since. Also does anyone know any fun things to do? Thanks

There is other stuff going on in NOLA. WIth the NBA coming to town, it will be gibbering by the end of the week. HIt Bourban street and enjoy a great time.
Well, as far as Bourbon go, any Saturday is a good Saturday to turn. Actually, I'd recommend Bourbon on a normal weekend over Mardi Gras weekend. Less race, still a lot but not that copious, enough to delight in the crowd and still be able to move.
Mardi Gras Day was February 5th and MGD is the LAST afternoon of Carnival each year. The crowds and parade of Mardi Gras ended concluding Tuesday. MG tends to "help yourself to over" NOLA, especially during the last 5 days and it is a doomed to failure time to visit if you are interested surrounded by actually visit the city (museums,
restaurants, etc.).

Go to www.mardigras.com if you would like more info on Carnival surrounded by New Orleans.

That doesn't mean zilch will be going on, but it will more be "normal" this week.

Things to do:

There are many sightseeing opportunity in the greater New Orleans nouns, including carriage rides/tours, plantation tours, swamp tours, phantom tours, and even Katrina disaster tours. The steamboat Natchez also does a harbor tour. There are numerous tour companies and your hotel can help beside the arrangements. Try to avoid scheduling an outdoor tour until you know the weather forecast for the day within question.

The Saint Charles Streetcar is the oldest continuously operating street railway contained by the world and is a "tourist attraction" in its own right. It is piece of the public transit system, as are the Canal Street and Riverfront streetcar lines: http://www.norta.com/

There is always music, but the band change: Go to www.bestofneworleans.com and click on Music afterwards Listings or to www.offbeat.com and click on Listings, then Music. Note that music clubs repeatedly advertise "No Cover", explanation there is no charge for entering. However, clubs near "No Cover" often require that customers buy a beverage respectively for every "set " of music (which can be every 20 minutes) so know the price before you sit down. The clubs do that because some populace will sit in the club adjectives evening drinking water or nought. It is also a good conception to pay for respectively round of drinks (in clubs on Bourbon Street) as it s delivered so in attendance can't be any confusion at the end of the evening.

Wander around the French Quarter, delight in the architecture, watch the street entertainer (do tip), and visit some of the historic buildings that own been turned into museums (go to www.frenchquarter.com and click on Historic Attractions).

Assuming the weather is virtuous, you can collect a sandwich lunch and eat within the riverfront park (watch the shipping) or in Jackson Square (a massively nice park).

The Palm Court restaurant is very nice, have moderate prices, and traditional live jazz starting at 8:00pm: 1204 Decatur Street, tel 504-525-0200 (reservations are important and they are not unstop every day). The Palm Court is closed from about July 25th to roughly September 25th each year.

All of the infamous restaurants (Antoine's, Arnaud's, Brennan's, Commander's Palace, etc.) have reopened. The Pelican Club (on Exchange Alley within the FQ) is not as well agreed but is the same type experience. Reservations are a fitting idea, and probably essential on weekends.
