San Francisco Locals, I hold a quiz for you!?
I'm a San Diegan... and I want to move to San Francisco. Just the enviroment and the places itself made me fall contained by loove with that city.
The item is I'm majoring in Veterinarian Med. and will be attending UCDavis. I still want to live contained by the Downtown Area of SF. Is the commute ridiculous, and should i just consider living more implicit Davis? Or would the 1hr+ be managable??
I seriously love SF.
Answers:
The commute would be hell, unless you're used to driving a few hours each direction (you're going to hit some dense pockets of traffic during commute hours).
You would be spending partially your day doing a tour, and wouldn't really get to relish the city.
I would recommend living closer to Davis. You could come to SF on the weekends!
Honestly, it would be a markedly difficult commute. In SoCal terms, it is resembling living in San Diego and going to work surrounded by Los Angeles.
Interstate 80 is the only direct route between the San Francisco Bay Area and Metropolitan Sacramento (where Davis is located). Technically, it's just 73.5 miles. But it can easily lug you two hours during rush hour.
You can take the subway (BART) to Richmond station, and verbs to an Amtrak train for Davis. However, that takes even longer than driving.
You should also consider staying surrounded by Davis. It's a very pleasant little town. The Sacramento region tend to have a discouraging reputation as dusty and desolate, but I think you'd be surprised by Davis' greenery. They planted profusely of trees several decades ago, and it has created for a time oasis of sorts.
If you find bored, you can always sneak into San Francisco for the weekend. Hey, Arnold Schwarzenegger does it adjectives the time!
yeah, characteristics of ridiculous. It is 74 miles one way from SF to Davis. And could give somebody a lift anywhere from 1 hr 15 min to 2+ hours depending on traffic. You could probably commute via amtrak capital corridor. Emeryville is the closest stop to SF and nearby is a stop right in davis. You are looking at probably $40 round trip a sunshine. You could drive it, but that would just be a horrible commute.
If you want to live class of in a place specifically half bearing, you might try fairfield or vacaville. They aren't the greatest of towns. But you would be about partly way between SF and Davis and would definately cut communting down.
I don't think you should commute that far. That a LONG commute. Live around half opening between the two.
Girl that's WAY too much driving surrounded by WAY too much traffic.
That trip can be long and uncomfortable.
Your trek from SF to Davis would be horrible!! First off crossing the inlet bridge is a nightmare even b4 you get on the bridge...driving through the East creek is always rotten, even on Sundays, and the commute will give somebody a lift up to an hour on a good morning oh and the it would cost $4.00 a day to cross a traffic ridden bridge
No no, you should definately move closer to Davis. Not only will it be cheaper, but that commute SUCKS (i go from just out of SF to Sacramento, and TRUST me, it get old deeply quickly). The good piece is, is that even living out in Davis or in close proximity Davis, you are still close enough to drive to the city for the weekends.
You hold to have lots of restraint and money if your going to make the commute from Davis. The gas every week and toll should cost you a kings ransome. Stay closer to Davis and see the city on the weekends.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, move closer to Davis! If not, by the end of the first week of the commute. You will realize;
1) That it become a 2+ hour drive on infallible days.
2) It can be costly
3) Your personality have changed and your likely to start road bluster.lol.
No, but seriously, it's not worth it. Plus outside of s.f. is cheaper and there are other superb places you live. You'll also be able to call round s.f. every weekend. So just live closer to Davis.
You would own to get on the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train within the city and it would eventually bring you out to the Emeryville station, where you next from there would hop on the Amtrak Capital Corridor Train (a commuter train) strait to the front of the campus.
The ride would probobly lug about an hour and a partially.
You can find their schedules on rank.
Good Luck from and greetings from SF.
You're nuts to make that commute every year. Seriously it will take 2 hours respectively way. Do you really regard you will be able to afford the time and stress of driving 4 hours put money on and forth to class every day?
Live within Davis and come to SF when you have time on the weekends.
Also, ahve you considered studying vet med at Western University within Pomona?
trust me, you don't wanna commute.
