The source below should assist you within choosing the attractions that interest your family. I might affix that there is a German influence here as powerfully.
Alamo is definite
Gruene Hall in Gruene, Tx. Just outside of San Antone. It's the best place to hear great Texas music and its the oldest dancehall within Texas. Plus Gruene is a great little town to do some shopping in.
I may enjoy overlooked it but I did not see anyone mention Buckhorn Saloon in downtown nouns. Any twelve year old will never forget this place once they see it. It is not a tavern now it is a museum but next to the most interesting Western oriented items that can be found. Years ago The Buckhorn be a saloon where on earth all the cowboys would budge when they came into town. If they brought a set of deer antlers beside them they could trade them for a shot of whiskey and a set of Rattlesnake Rattles would trade for a schooner of beer. You wouldn't believe how massive the collection is today and the neat ways they enjoy displayed all of this. Also they enjoy one of the worlds finest displays of taxidermy work. You did not say the twelve year infirm is boy or girl but especially a boy would enjoy this. The Alamo will be convenient to you surrounded by the downtown area but the Queen of Missions is San Jose and near you and yours will see how the Mission system operated contained by San Antonio. San Jose is on the south-----south-east side and is really the Mission to see to understand Old San Antonio. Welcome to " The Big Taco"
I reason other people covered San Antonio pretty very well, but as for Dallas somebody said check out Dallas Zoo but I've been near and I prefer the Fort Worth Zoo. It's so much bigger and better. Dallas Zoo was loving of lame... I felt sorry for the animals living surrounded by such small enclosures. Also within Dallas check out the Dallas World Aquarium, it's like a huge indoor rainforest. Everyone that I've taken here has loved it. Not sure if you're up for shopping but Dallas is conspicuously known for adjectives the shopping and food. Check out the Galleria, maybe you can rime skate there, and also Northpark Mall (they purely added a whole different section of the mall).
If he rides horses, you have to come to Bandera, the home of the cowboy, roughly speaking 45 minutes from San Antonio. If you don't want to go to the Hill country where on earth many German Americans live by the opening, then on Henderson Pass contained by San Antonio where nearby is nice stables on the Northeast part of the city to hand the airport where in that is a pretty creek called Salado. I live hard by this park. In Corpus Christi, you have to travel to the Padre Island where they ride on the seaside! Plus at Malaquite Beach also in Corpus Christi nouns, they let jump of baby ridley turtles that ending up in the imperial cayman islands in the carribbean. It's a fun point to do and watch. You can truly camp on the seaside and have a nice bonfire close to the shores. Be sure to bring sunblock 30-45 and mosquito repellent. The coast has pretty correct size mosquitoes. Drink lots of water and gatarade. You may suggest your body isn't thirsty and not even know you are getting dehydrated. San Antonio have beautiful botanical gardens, and a nice zoo effective in the Brackenridge park...it's vastly European on the river walk. You will close to these areas. I like the Dallas zoo because they enjoy a great primate area. There's a historic nouns which has great music and restaurants. Houston is wonderful downtown in the neighbourhood the zoo and museum district as well. Viel Spass! Bitte komm besuch Beethoven Verein am Alamo und Perieda Strassen: ein Biergarten aber fuer Familie within Konig William gebiet mit Polka Musik.
San Antonio have some great theme parks for your kid.
Check out Fiesta Texas.. impressively kid friendly. There is the theme park (rollercoasters) and next there is also a wet park.
SeaWorld too.. but Fiesta Texas is better.
and yeah, do the Alamo for like.. a minute.
they did hold Horseback Riding at the Zoo once upon a time, but I did it a long time ago... I don't know if it is still in business...
but for, you can always do it at the shore!
HAVE FUN!
