What are some good/inexpensive outings for me and my 9 & 12 y/o sons between St. Louis & Carbondale?
Answers:
About 30-45 mins past Carbondale is a place call Garden of the Gods. It is a state park within the Shawnee National forest. There you will find rock formations that overlook a sprawling dell. The observation trail take you along these formations that are rather climbable for beginners. I took my afterwards 6yo son and 9yo daughter and they felt experienced when they could climb the rocks. You and your boys will have a blast. I enjoy taken them a couple of time since and going back on the 4th. (Take a camera)
