There's a couple of nice malls on Market and Powell. Just a few blocks away is Union Square if you want some pricey merchandise. H&M is also in that nouns.
The cost of living is big in SF and if you can buy something surrounded by your hometown (assuming you live in the US), it will probably be cheaper contained by your hometown. If you like big dept. stores close to Bloomingdales, Saks 5th Ave, Macys, those stores are downtown within walking distance of respectively other. There is a Marshalls ( and also Ross) discount store downtown. Union Square (part of downtown) has upscale stores close to Gucci, Burberry (but the prices are higher than surrounded by Europe). The cheapest place to buy SF souvenirs (sweatshirts, caps, toy cable cars, etc.) is contained by Chinatown on Grant Avenue. Don't be too shocked by the ppl in Chinatown, heaps are really from China/Hong Kong/Taiwan (they're not your average Chinese-Americans from Kansas) but on Grant Avenue, the shops cater to tourists so the shopkeepers speak some English. This sentence may seem unnatural to you, but you'll see what I mean.
Skip the fasten stores, [Gap, inc, Bebe, Wet Seal, Lane Bryant, Avenue, Victoria's Secret, Macy's, etc.] they have indistinguishable stuff in SF as they do contained by your local mall stores.

The best boutique shopping [unique pieces some locally made] is surrounded by Noe Valley [24th street between Church and Castro], Hayes Valley [Hayes Street between Franklin and Laguna] the Marina as previously mentioned [but they now hold several chain stores contained by the mix]. The Mission [Mission to Guerrero, 16th to 24th] has the BEST mix of cool, funky, cheap and adjectives edge of any neighborhood surrounded by The City.

And if you are female and love retro clothes that are modern and fun try Martha Egan on Columbus and Washington contained by North Beach which also has some great boutiques mixed within with some of the best food and drink SF have to offer. Head up Columbus where on earth it crosses Grant and wander around!

Enjoy, and don't do too much trash to your charge cards!
Besides the usual stores you see almost every where contained by Union Square I really love shopping in the Marina nouns and Union Street. There you find some great SF boutiques! I would go at hand before Union Square - but Barney's is uncap now too so explicitly a must see!

Then there's Hay's Valley - trendy area, cool shops.
Valencia/Mission nouns is a good place too.

But really Union Street is the best!
Try the San Francisco Centre (downtown S.F.), there is a Nordstrom, Victoria's Secret, Express, Aldo, Eddie Bauer, Guess, Cache, of late to name a few. On one and the same block is a huge Old Navy. Across the street from Old Navy, there is a huge Virgin Mega Store. From here if you go up two blocks, at hand is a Macy*s. Across the street from the San Francisco Centre, there is a Gap. If you have need of any place more specific to shop, whether it be a certain nouns or certain store, purely let me know.
Westfeild and Bloomingdales in San Francisco. The big key enterance is on Market St. It's IMPOSSIBLE to miss. they have succulent couture, abercrombie and fitch, abercrombie kids, hollister, j-crew, steve madden, coach, louie vuitton, victoria's secret etc. It's awesome, enjoy fun,
