Planning a weekend getaway within Kansas City...have need of abet!?
Hi, I am planning a weekend getaway for my husband and I to Kansas City. Any ideas for a apposite, decently priced hotel? I would ideally approaching to be near The Plaza, as we want to step around and shop, but I don't want to be too far away from the nightlife. Also, which restaurants and what nightlife do you recommend?

Kansas City is a good town, I live contained by Maryville, MO...an hour north, check with the KC Convention and Visitors Bureau or check out this site...kansascity.citysearch.com , it will put in the picture you all something like the hotels near the Country Club Plaza, also while you're in attendance, take a drive down Bruce Watkins Drive. The indoor malls within are nice, the Oak Park is the largest with 190 stores, and the Independence Center is a close second. check 'em out.

This would be more pricey...BUT you could receive a room with a picture facing the heart of the plaza. President Bush stayed here when he was surrounded by town last week.
FOOD~
GoJo's is YUMMY but not perfect for a twosome. You seat at a table of 8 or 10 inhabitants.

The BBQ beans are THE BEST. in walking distance from both hotels I mentioned.
Houston, George Bretts, Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang's, California Pizza Kitchen are just a few obedient places to eat at the Plaza.
~~~ Go to Westport. Its a bit more relaxed and "hippie" they enjoy fun shops their also. Just a bit north of the Plaza.
Night life contained by Westport is for the younger crowd. I use to go but not much since I hit my 30's. If you do move about try Kelly's. It more of a just suspend out and drink kind of place.
America's Pub is a fun place. Its 80's skip music.
I be looking for the same article last month and very soon I can't find the website for Westport clubs. All I can say is that I grew up within Westport in glorious school and college and respectively year the clubs changed, either beside the name or the crowds. I would recomend you stay close to the nightlife so it would be easier to stagger back to your hotel surrounded by the wee hours. The Westport area is Kansas City's Mecca for nightlife and is close by the outoors Shopping on the Country Club Plaza 3 blocks away Or if you prefer you can shop at the Indoor Mall at Crown Center Just a short distance away.

When I lived in KC my favorite restaurant to run my wife was Plaza III. Pricey but white tablecloth and the best service every time. The steaks are incredible. This time of the year it is technically easy to find a parking place on the Country Club Plaza so you can prod out a deal on a Hotel room within the suburbs.
I don't know how old you are but I do know that most of Westport is geared to 20 somethings.

Gojo's is right by the Plaza and it is must. Also for nightlife, dance to Westport, thats where adjectives the nightlife is. have fun :)

I WOULD RECOMENT THE MARRIOTT ON MAIN I HAVE STAYED THERE IT IS WALKING DISTANCE TO THE PLAZA & CLOSE TO WESTPORT
A good place to stay is the Embassy Suites at 43rd and Broadway/Bruce R. Watkins. It is contained by the middle of the Plaza and Westport, only a couple blocks away from Gojo's (great food, and I approaching watching others at the table, so it is great even for only 2 people). Also, don't miss the "exotic Plaza", Zona Rosa at I-29 and Barry Rd.
If you wish to be in the vicinity the Plaza you have a few option. The InterContinental is one of the nicest hotels in town, but it's expensive. I would try the Raphael instead of that. If that's too expensive afterwards try the Sheraton, Embassy Suites or the Holiday Inn. They are all planned on the normal travel sites.
As far as dinner go, there are profoundly of good restaurants surrounded by KC. But what is good for you may not be what I approaching, so you would need to decrease things down a bit. It also depends on where you lapse up staying. If you're on the Plaza, then try Il Centro on Main St. or J.J.'s. There are other franchise restaurants (i.e. Cheesecake Factory, Ruth's Chris, P.F. Chang's) you might savour, but when I travel I try to eat at locally-owned places.
You two enjoy fun and try not to behave yourselves too much.

You will find the best nightlife on the Plaza and surrounded by Westport...both are very close surrounded by proximity. The Plaza area have nice hotels, but you will pay premium price. You can stay close at hand Westport for much cheaper...but, would require driving to the plaza.However, there is ample parking on the plaza, so should not be a big agreement.
